Hi guys, I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to figure out which router should I be getting.

EB810v - I read some threads saying that this unit is configured especially for Starhub (I’m on ViewQwest) so I’m worried it won’t work well. Plus I’ve read complaints about it not very strong on coverage and lastly if you ISP is not SH you don’t get firmware

HB810 - I only started to read on this, so not much information yet. But in summary, what I’ve gotten is that other than it doesn’t support VoIP and only have 2x 2.5Gb ports, everything seems the same? However nothing says about being locked and no one complaint about range.

Xiaomi BE10000 Pro - frankly it looks nice on the aesthetics plus I read it’s truly high end on almost everything. But it doesn’t come with 6Ghz bands.

Some context, I’ve just upgraded my plan to 10Gb and is already going to wire backhaul master room (furthest away from main router) so I can have an AP setup there. But I’m also greedy and hope to get really good wifi for wireless devices. I’ve also gotten 2 units of 5ports 10Gb (because those routers don’t have sufficient 10Gb ports) switches to put in living and study room to get maximum speed for my PC and laptop.

Appreciate in advance for any expert here to share some views.

My recommendation: look at TP-Link Archer BE805 instead, better firmware features and more frequent firmware updates. It is a consumer model and not service provider models like EB810v (StarHub ) and HB810 (SingTel). It has 6GHz band.

Xiaomi BE10000 Pro has a slower CPU than HB810/EB810v and Archer BE805. Take note the older Xiaomi BE10000 has better CPU than the new Xiaomi BE10000 Pro. Xiaomi routers also have limited firmware features wasting the good hardware specifications.

Only issue with Archer BE805 is that it does not have 2.5G LAN ports.

If wanna use tplink be805, suggest to buy a 10g switch. Something like the tplink sx105. All ports are 10g so that can be an option to expand for more 10g ports for the be805 for ethernet connections to other data point in the home and ethernet backhaul to the other AP.

I am similar situation as u

However I heard that tplink switch runs hot

yes I’ve bought 2 units of the 10g switch with 6 ports. Still on the way.

I understand from Chagpt that it’s okay to plug the 2.5Gb port to the 10Gb switch and you will still get full 10Gb switch?
There’s so many thinks to consider and think of I’m struggling.

I don't think so though. U will be capped to 2.5g speed
