For Xiaomi routers that support dual WAN and port aggregation over 1G ports, any benefits to connect to 2 ports on the WC 2.5G plan ONR? Assuming the router in AP mode?

I believe the router has to be in router mode and not AP mode to get Dual WAN Load Balancing to work.

Benefits: > 1Gbps wired speed (from 2.5G LAN port) and wireless speed.
Reference: two successful stories (there are more such results, including using Xiaomi router)

Xiamo BE5000 vs BE3600

Xiaomi BE5000 CPU AIROHA AN7563PT (Arm Cortex A53 dual core 1GHz CPU with NPU) is actually slower than BE3600 CPU IPQ5312 Arm Cortex A53 quad-core1.1GHz, with NPU). On the other hand, wireless performance of Xiaomi BE5000 is better than Xiaomi BE3600. It has also 512 MB RAM compared to Xiaomi BE3600's 128MB RAM.

Some people may worry about Chinese UI of Xiaomi China routers, however you do not need to worry too much as you can use Google Translate.

The folllowing is from Xiaomi AX3000T Web UI using Google Translate Chrome Extension.

Xiaomi router lacks some features like OpenVPN/IPSec/Wireguard VPN support but it is probably good enough for average users.

A bit more details about some advanced settings: QoS VPN, DDNS

1) Xiaomi recommends NO QOS settings for typical Singapore Fibre internet plans (>>50Mbps)

Take note QoS settings will be disabled if you enable Dual WAN.
Note: I tried QoS settings and it does not seem to work with WiFi device speed limit settings. Maybe a FW bug.

2) VPN settings are useless -- no OpenVPN/IPsec/Wireguard support. The legacy PPTP/L2TP are not secure now.

3) DDNS -- you can use Dybdns and No-ip.

Hi xiaofan, thanks for sharing the translated Web UI. Can I check if the ax3000t UI which u have shared was from a china variant of the router ? Do you know if the UI would be in English if say the router is bought from local xiaomi store?

The above is from China version of Xiaomi AX3000T.

As far as I know, local official Xiaomi Stores do not sell Xiaomi AX3000T global version (there is indeed a global version of Xiaomi AX3000T), only Xiaomi AX3000 (with internal antenna) which is totally different from Xiaomi AX3000T (with external antenna).

Local version of Xiaomi routers selling in official Xiaomi stores like Xiaomi AX3000, AX3200 and AX9000 (as well as the Xiaomi AX3600 global version sold last time) will have English UI.

BTW, occasionally local official Xiaomi stores (physical and online) will have limited stock of Xiaomi AX9000 triband router for sale at around S$249. I think it is still a very good buy, with top of the line Qualcomm IPQ8072 CPU and 1GB RAM, as well as 2.5G port and USB 3.0 port.

For example, when you need to form a mesh and you need to use wireless backhaul (no LAN ports in the rooms), you can buy two units to form Xiaomi mesh. It will be way better than cheaper triband mesh solution like TP-Link Deco X68 and X75.

I just checked and Xiaomi official Lazada and Shopee online stores have the stock.

Thx xiaofan. I have actually ordered ax3000t from Malaysia's lazada store for my parents place, will probably try it out tomorrow but am also worried that the 3 5G antenna won't be powerful enough. RM800 ish is quite a big investment I believe especially in Malaysia household. Thanks to your sharing I'm am now aware of Ruijie routers eg. X32pro / E5 / Ew3200gx pro with exceptional coverage but it's hard to find an international unit at 2nd hand.

Hmm, why so expensive at RM 800 (or S$229)?

Xiaomi AX3000T China version is at RMB229 before discount and around RMB165 after 6.18 discount, from official Xiaomi Taobao/Tmall Flagship store. Even with GST and shipping, it should still be much less than what you pay.

It is supposed to be cheaper than Xiaomi AX3000. Local version of Xiaomi AX3000 is selling at S$69 per piece from official Xiaomi stores.

Sorry for the confusion, what I meant on the rm800 is for a new Xiaomi ax9000. I have actually bought ax3000t at RM135 ish.

Not so sure if anyone here got the Xiaomi BE3600/BE5000/BE6500 Pro/BE7000/BE10000, it will be good to hear the reviews.

I am getting the Xiaomi BE5000 from Taobao (RMB279+ shipment + GST) for testing purpose and it should reach here end of this month.

I have already got ZTE BE7200 Pro+ and I am using it as an AP after OpenWRT/pfSene virtual router.

I got Xiaomi be5000 2 days ago. Still trying to setup to run the 2.5G from WC ONR.

I see. Thanks.

The easy way out is to set Xiaomi BE5000 as an AP (bridge mode) -- but you can use only 1Gbps then from Xiaomi BE5000.

You can try Dual WAN to see if it works for you or not. People have reported success with Xiaomi BE6500 Pro and BE7000.

The following is a simulated Dual WAN setup (as shown in the picture in the above post) as I have only Singel 1Gbps plan.
From the iperf3 results we can see that wireless speed can achieve > 1Gbps.

Wireless download -- 1.52 Gbps
Wireless upload -- 1.29 Gbps

pfSense virtual router (2.5G LAN) -- ZTE BE7200 Pro+ (2.5G WAN): to simulate WC 2.5Gbps plan
ZTE BE7200 Pro+ dual 1Gbps LAN -- Xiaomi AX3000T dual WAN (CH44, 160MHz) -- wireless client at close range

iperf3 server -- Linux LxC container (192.168.88.12)
iperf3 client -- Acer Windows 11 laptop with Intel AX201 wireless adapter

Bash:
PS C:\work\speedtest\iperf-3.16-win64> .\iperf3.exe -c 192.168.88.12 -R -P4

Xiaomi AX3000T stock firmware wireless Internet SpeedTest using OOkla Speedtest app.
Wireless settings: CH44, 160MHz channel bandwidth, 2.4GHz band disabled.
Wireless client: Acer Windows 11 laptop with Intel AX201 wireless adapter

The wireless performance is quite decent for such a low cost router.

I see.

Yup I tried that earlier, wifi still below 800 it seems (using mobile *not wifi7 to test)
