From my observation they tend to appear near long stretches of straight roads where people tends to go faster.

@circleheart

My advice to you is, take a rest once you landed in CHC. You would be on the air for 10 hours and maybe before hand 1 hour at Changi Airport. You would have spend another hour or more in CHC airport for custom clearance and waiting for your campervan.

Your body clock has then to adjust to the 4 hour difference. Then you want to spend another 2 hours and 50 minutes to drive to Lake Tekapo for a country that you have never driven before? You are going to NZ to enjoy yourself. Why rush?
@angy
Thanks for the advice. Will be laying over at CHC for 1 day considering the above. Also made some changes to the planned itinerary as i managed to get huge discount for booking the coach + cruise through bookme.nz - good website!!
Cheers!

Great time to be in NZ for their summer though prices can be sky high for accommodation.

This itinerary might help in traveling south island !

Strange. One time I was speeding, and the police car going in the opposite direction just flash high beam at me to tell me to slow down. Never got stopped for speeding, and highest I went on a straight no-cars-around SI road was 130.

The pictures made me gian to return to Nz.. :/

after reading the recent news article on the weather conditions in new zealand now, I realised what I have experienced 2-3 weeks ago is really nothing.

Did you booked a guided milford track? Is it very costly?

For your itinerary, why don't you stay overnight at Taupo or Rotorua on Day 15?

If you intend to join the Mt John skygazing tour, do sign up in advance.

Even if not going for stargazing tour, it is worth it to hike or drive up mt john in the day and track ard the summit. The panoramic view from the summit is amazing

Yes it's sufficient. Bring international driving license also though.

Hi, any bros here went for the Tongariro alpine crossing ?

Any nice accommodation to recommend that provide shuttle service to the starting point of Tongariro alpine crossing .. ?

dun think we will be driving to the starting point as there's a 4 hour parking restriction in place at Mangatepopo road end.. and we are planning on doing the full hike ...

thanks !

If you intend to stay at Whakapapa on a Campervan, isn't Whakapapa Holiday Park a suitable choice? They have shuttles running there. Book early as usual. We stayed rather far away at Tihoi Tavern and drove down to National Park in the morning for the 9am shuttle. Finished the crossing and took the 430pm shuttle back to National Park to pick up our Campervan. We spent the night at Taupo.
