Just an update about the quake situation in Wellington. The suburbs seems to be doing ok, but the CBD is badly affected. 60 buildings have been closed for inspections.

Your trip is to where? Generally only Seddon and Kaikoura places are greatly affected.. The rest of the places shouldn't be a problem

Kaikoura might start becoming accessible by this weekend, but there will be disruptions (cancelled tours due to not meeting minimum number, reduced supply of accommodation due to the eq, etc). Not sure about Blenheim though. When are you coming over? Dec?

I've been feeling aftershocks here and there. Doesn't help that there's a strong wind tonight

Was planning to tour only the South Island originally , will have to change plan to visit just the North Island for 2 weeks.

Will wait for bigroadtrip bro to update his blog on some sample itineraries he is working on ... is there any indication when you would publish it? :-)

Don't let the earthquakes put you off the south Island really. It's quite nice down there. Really nice drives too.
