Came back from my CNY 4D3N Penang-Langkawi trip.
The ship dock at the port for both locations so no need to take ferry to shore. Very convenient to disembark from level 4/5. If you don't intend to join the shore excursion tour which I think $90+ per person "boh hua" lor. If you have 3-4 persons must well get a taxi at rm50 per hour, 6 hours also rm300 only, moreover taxi can bring where ever you want to go. It is safe to take the taxi in Penang.
For Langkawi trip, I wasn't aware that the ship dock at the port in the first place, so I didn't plan my shore excursion, by the time I woke up at 1PM and noticed the long jetty linking to the shore, there wasn't enough time left for me to visit Langkawi coz the ship schedule to leave langkawi at 3PM.
Penang was very hot, don't forget to put on a cap and drink a lot of water. Langkawi was hot too, from what I saw people walking along the open air jetty were mostly with umbrellas or caps.
i did penang last year with RC, it was a breeze to travel there.

as for langkawi. what time the ship will arrive the dock? i believe its morning right? 8am or so? at least a good 6 hours for pple to do excursion?

i wan to take the cable car up the mountain to hike. heard the scenery was good.

Bintan doesn't have a port big enough to let Genting Dream dock, so you need to take a ferry to Bintan and it is not free, heard it is $30.

Of course there is only one Genting Dream, the other one is call World Dream and she is base in Hong Kong.
Most cruise ships with this size have water slides on the top deck. Ah Neh loves water, expect many Ah Neh little boys playing the water slides and big hairy tummy Ah Neh soaking in the pool too.

Thanks for the share, was planning to take Grab in Penang but seems like booking hourly taxi seems to be another choice too.

Yes this is correct. The slot machines just situated around deck 6 to 8 in the middle of the ship along open walking path. There are casino staffs or security around and will warn if they see yound kids trying to go near. Guess parents will just have to watch out for their own kids.
oh... so meaning anybody is free to play on these machine... thank you

Lido is an International Buffet style Restaurant with Halal and Indian foods sections too.

Dream Dining Lower (Deck 7 Aft - back of the ship) is Western Set menus (on some Weekend cruise could become full Chinese Set menus ) plus Semi Buffet or Chinese Set menus.

Dream Dining Upper (Deck 8 Aft) is Chinese Set menus (Appertiser, 5 main dishes plus Soup, and Dessert).

During some Peak period cruises, there is another Function 8 Restaurant (Deck 8 Aft) available for International Buffet.

Suggest to check their menus TV display at the entrance of these Restaurants before you decide.

Don't forget to try the Morning (10-11am) or Afternoon (3.30-4.30pm) Tea Break too outside Lido at Deck 16.

Unfortunately they do not serve Night Snack at these Restaurants. However you can try out the $1 selective Night Snack between 11pm-1am) at the chargeable Blue Lagoon Restaurant (Deck 7 Midship opens 24hrs).
thank you for the info. so these 3 restaurant is included in our fare right?
basically there's is no dress code for the dinning area rite?

Have they lowered back the minimum bet for table games? Minimum bet was raised for CNY. Any idea?
