curious as i see dreamcruise as also one of the more popular cruise here. how it fares again royal Caribbean?

It depends on what is your expectation and experience that you want. Are you going as a couple, family or group of friends?

RCL recently refurbished Voyager of the seas and also they have quantum of the seas which is a very huge ship. In terms of entertainment RCL will offer more as they have more activities and facilities. They have sitting timing for their western inclusive restaurant and their buffet is normal. Casino gaming area is not that big. Is a more family orientated ship. Good for kids. RCL is the number 1 cruise line in the world.

Dream Cruise which have Genting Dream based here is slightly smaller then quantum. The ship was launched in 2017 so is still pretty new. Entertainment and facilities on board is normal which have nothing really to shout about. I like the KTV room which is huge and best you can smoke inside !!! their spa is also decent & nice. Balcony cabins are decent size and modern. Food wise is normal but expect to queue during peak timings as is first come 1st serve. As is a Genting Ship. Mr Lim idea is all about gambling. They have open concept gambling area deck 6 to 8. Also a mixture smoking area in the open area. Gaming area is decent which have alot of slots and tables. Expect alot of uncles & aunties onboard. Genting Dream is more of a gaming ship it caters more to the asian market. Also as a smoker genting dream is much better then RCL which you cannot smoke at the balcony.

If just want to experience cruising i will suggest try both the cruise line so u can have a feel.

That's a good run down man, appreciate it.
I have been taking rccl for at 3 times and they always impress one way or another. My memory of Genting cruise is over 20 yrs ago and want to have a update in their new dream cruise line. Base on your description rccl is more family and youngster orientated. Whereas Genting is mote catered to gambling
Food wise would u say rccl or dream cruise better?

Food wise is think both is quite equal. But i feel Genting dream has improved in the food ever since they sailed in 2017. Also you cannot do in-room dinning for Genting dream. The chinese dining on Genting Dream is decent. Buffet both ship is pretty much the same. Genting Dream got nasi lemak for buffet breakfast.

With Dream Cruise having promos it maybe quite value for money. But dont try the 3D2N friday as is more for gambling people. A good experience will be a 4D3N cruise.

GD does not serve supper at the inclusive restaurants but there is a 24hrs Snack corner (outside Lido). Alternatively you can pay to eat at the Blue Lagoon and they have special promo price supper between 11pm-1am.

Since early this year they allow you to eat at any of the inclusive restaurants as many times you wish.

The 24hrs snacks at lido is not too bad. The samosa is nice

For Blue lagoon the supper is $1 per item the portion not too big from 11pm to 1am comes with free hot chinese tea. Got noodle soup, rice, chicken wing, porridge etc... Good for a hot & light bite.

Super Peak.
This is one time in the year they reward their junket and very high rollers. They get to cruise for free.
If they have 5 ships they can fill all 5 ships.

The CNY cruise 25 Jan is already fully booked. I have booked for my family members using PP in early Sept and my comp cabin received last week.

The 22 Jan is still available offering at 1500PP for a balcony cabin. I just booked my 22 Jan cruise as well and ready for my marathon slot play onboard for 6d5n. =:p Many "jackpot aunties" cannot go 22 Jan cruise because need to prepare reunion diner.:s8:

Meanwhile, 6 Sept 2020 6D5N cruise to Xmas Island, go see crabs! I want to go but not given comp cabin. Hope my CNY cruise earns enough PP for this long distance trip. 12500PP for balcony and 70k PP for palace. :s22:

The monsoon season is here, forcing DC to sail along the west coast. Any tips/experience to share for porting @ Malacca & Penang? Where to go, worth to go, how to go (Grab?) and what to do etc?

Penang is ok to take grab but you need to walk out Grab is easy in Penang. When you disembark and walk out to the main gate you will see tonsss of taxi touts. It depends on if you got a big group anot and if you dont mind spending on the taxis ranging from MYR100 to MYR200 for 3 hrs i think. For grab usually one way in Penang cost between MYR6 to MYR20 depending on distance. One way Terminal to Gurney drive cost between MYR8 to MYR10. Go Gurney mall or try the local food there etc.

Melaka there is a coach transfers of SGD30 that bring you to one of the mall. Then you can use grab to explore. You can go Jonker St & Phalawan mall etc. Grab is easy in Melaka too. Once Melaka cruise terminal is ready i think by year end it will be easier.

You can either walk to Penang Street Art and Kimberly Street Night Market or take Penang Georgetown free shuttle (CAT) to the shopping malls. You can download CAT bus route from the internet.

Penang is easy to walk.. jus use google map.. but if u wan to gurney plaza then can jus grab..

Malacca wise, not sure where the tender ship will port. If e jetty is near makhota hotel.. then very easy to walk coz is near jonker street.
