yupseems like Justin trudeau have more proposed lax immigration policies than harper. harper focused more on economic migration which made it hard unless u have the right set of skills.

JT plans to make foreign spouses of canadians get PR faster and to restore residency time credit for intl students.

very shocked by the results actually. alo of people were ABC (anything but conservative), but JT emerged with the most seats. Canadians mean what they say when they want to vote Harper out, unlike Sgreans who have whining to vote PAP out, but every election is the same.

lets hope JT does a good job ... and see if he cause more canadian taxpayers money lol.

moi sentiments. proud of canadians.

Canadians = alot of ppl making small noises
Singaporean = a little ppl making alot of noise

in election is not about how loud of a noise one makes but how many ppl one can round up.

in my small social circle I have alot of ppl supporting PAP, its only here in EDMW its anti PAP.

As a student U will make new friends from everywhere. Go overseas and still want to connect to Singaporeans? It maybe best to go Australia.
In top Uni (UBC/Toronto/Mcgill) it maybe hard to find more than 20-30 singaporeans. Uni such as UWO or MUN or even Calgary, U maybe lucky to find 1!

U will find Singaporean if U want to seek them out.

Actually you can probably find a handful of Singaporeans each semester. NTU, NUS and SMU send students (such as myself :D) there on exchange.

ps; Looking for someone to adopt me for Christmas or New Year in Vancouver :s13:

Went to a immigration agency yesterday. Was told I can try for the express point system but the cost was close to 9K. Anyone here tried doing the process yourself?

What's the 1100 for?

Application fee that is non refundable. After which, u will get a file number. The rprf will be refundable if the application fails.

Rest will be getting your documents certified by notory public, so it depends on how much they charge per photocopy and how many documents you have

Will be going Vancouver for overseas posting coming Jan for more than 2 years.

@kaisin82, how's the cost of Vancouver compare to Singapore?

I read in many places that Vancouver rental is expensive, so any good places to recommend? North Vancouver?

Next is medical, which I think MSP is as good as general coverage for consultation and medical?

How's internet there compare to Singapore? Here I using ViewQwest which is reasonably cheap for unlimited speed.

...and no direct flight from Singapore to Vancouver, at least not by SQ, and Cathay looks like good flight for cost and service.

Cannot use the Krisflyer points that have been saving all along:p

No direct flight, try the skyscanner app to hunt down a good price.
Can fly air canada at times operated by SQ

Thanks patryn33 for the links. Sorry I meant ViewQwest is unlimited quota.

No preference of housing, more of rental (rather save more for the outdoor activities there). Some forum mentioned higher crime in Surrey, Mapole and Hasting so would avoid those areas. From craigslist etc seems that further east e.g. Burnaby or Coquitlam I can get less than CAD2k for 2~3 bedroom.
