I can’t create new folders on Win 10: Help!

Folks,

I need your advice & help on my Win 10. I can’t create new folders on my laptop. I’ve done a system restore but the issue is still there.

Any help & advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Understand someone provided you a link on video to edit the registry manually.

For easy reference on same method refer to.

Refer to: Solution 4 – Edit the Registry Manually; to copy & paste the exact text easily.

Solution 4 – Edit the Registry Manually

Finally, you could also do some manual registry editing to fix new folder options. Edit the registry to fix the folder options as follows.

1. Open the Registry Editor by pressing Win key + R and typing ‘regedit‘ into the Run text.
2. Browse to this key in the Registry Editor window: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\.

3. Select ContextMenuHandlers on the left of the window and then right-click an empty space on the right and select New > Key.

4. Enter ‘New’ as the title for the key.
5. Select the New key and double-click (Default) on the right to open the Edit String window.

6. Enter {D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719} in the Value data box, and click OK to close the window.
7. Now you can close the Registry Editor window and right-click the desktop to set up a new folder.

Win 10 forum thread on > How to Add or Remove the New context menu in Windows 10

Note that step 2 is to "Add" and ignore step 3.

Please read some of the posts for some info & details.
Also note "You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to add or remove the New context menu."

Alternately and last resort then refer post 14 of the thread on - Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade.
This is to upgrade Windows 10 to the latest version, refer to the details in the link.

Win 10 forum is solely on all Windows 10 matters.
