According to xiaomi ceo, sd 865 alone is already about 1000 rmb.

I feel all the phone maker in China like to talk CPU openly is shooting their own feet, imagine if the focus is not on the CPU they can save so much on cost.

WTF.. Xiaomi so expensive now??

You are right, at this price it will not fly, especially with the current market climate.

Over $1000 is out of my range. Never spend such money to buy a phone.

Maybe you can wait for the Redmi K30 Pro (or POCO F2), it will most likely come with Snapdragon 865 too but don't expect the same top-notch camera system and specs found on the Mi 10 Series to be on Redmi. :o

Xiaomi is going up to compete at the higher-end segment, that is also why they made Redmi as a sub-brand.

You see that's their mistake, for me I won't even care what CPU they use, I started working in IT business since 80's, all these are just hype as the real use performance is marginal and not noticeable by majority of user in daily use.

If around $1K, I would go for the coming Samsung S20.

Actually the mi note 10 looks like a better buy. Price drop to 600.
It has same camera system and a 3.5mm jack
Only thing is the slow pic taking processing. Is there any firmware update that improve it?
Shall take a closer look again

Trend for smartphone is larger camera sensor with more pixels. Faster cpu is definitely required for the 108mp camera. There is leaked video of xiaomi phone with 256 mp camera.

kopi22 13-02-2020 11:18 PM

Too expensive for me. Keeping my MI 9T for good....

Having the latest flagship processor is the yearly tradition for Xiaomi Mi flagship series, and they are usually one of the first to launch 8xx series.

The cost for 865 is way costly than previous gen of 8xx series, and currently there's no competitor competing with Qualcomm in the high-end processor segment thus Qualcomm can price it as high as they want.

Firmware update can't improve the image processing speed a lot as the processor (SD730G) itself don't support such high megapixel-count camera.

However, if you don't mind the slower image processing speed then maybe Mi Note 10 could be a good buy.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Camera Speed

When camera sensor size rise, the first question come in mind that how much time it take to capture a shot. Xiaomiís main camera with 108 megapixels, with Snapdragon 865 and the new ISP, quadruple the computing performance, even more powerful LPDDR5 transfers are extremely fast, and UFS 3.0 writes are very fast. So taking pictures with 108MP will be is very much spontaneously without any delay between shots
