So the Redmi 5 screen is going to be bigger than Redmi 4 ? Then how to differentiate between Redmi and Redmi Note series ?
The Redmi 5 with a 5.7" 18:9 display will have a similar dimension as a phone with a 5.2" 16:9 display.

With a 18:9 display, it means a larger screen in a compact body(longer dimension, but small width).

To differentiate the Redmi 5 Plus and the Redmi Note 5, it could be differing with the camera(eg. R5P with single rear camera, RN5 with dual rear camera) and processor model(R5P will likely come with the SD625, while RN5 is said to be the first to come with SD636).

Likely to be the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, the main highlight will be the 18:9 Fullscreen display design..

18:9 display is the trend to go moving forward, you will see lesser 16:9 display on smartphones..

Standard 18:9 display sizes you will see probably be 5.7", 5.9", 6" and 6.4" ~

qualcomm 4xx series should be cheaper than 6xx series.
I recall sd450 specs wise is very close to sd625.

I had suggested renaming to "Redmi 5 and its variants" as in the future, beyond the current 5plus model, there may be redmi 5A, 5X, 5S whatever.

I thought the regular, 'lite' & 'pro' is the different in clock speed..

MSM8953 >> SD625 Octa-core up to 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53
MSM8953lite >> SD625 Octa-core up to 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53
MSM8953pro >> SD625 Octa-core up to 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53
