I'm looking at getting the Redmi Note 5x. I thought RN 5A, the A is entry level but now, there is a RN 5A Prime which is confusing to me, cause Prime is supposed to be more advanced, right ?

I wonder how many variants there are now ? And how they compare.

There's no Redmi Note 5X now, it will only be available after the regular Redmi Note 5 is announced as the X/A is just a variant of the regular model.

Redmi Note 5A is positioned as the cheap 5.5" phone with low-end specs. The Prime version of the Note 5A has slightly better specs than the regular Note 5A, but in general the specs inside are still low-end.

A simple way to note:
- A variants are cheaper(low-end) version of the regular model.
- X variants are the improved version of the regular model.

6 months yes for mobile accessories subjected to user misuse. Maybe for removable batteries. But not for built-in batteries.
It would be a deal breaker for many potential buyers.
If 6 months only, meaning the maker can be less stringent on their battery quality & reliability standards. Maybe they should include battery monitoring app to deter bad usage patterns.

most company only provide only 6 months warranty for battery, removable or not. you try go their website & c

Ok lah.
But Asus change battery for me after almost 12 months.
FOC some more.

Next time, I think I better buy Asus products instead of 小米 lor. Tio bo ?

Even Aztech give 2 years warranty on the battery for their Blink home security cameras.

Battery is a very important aspect of mobile technology. Cannot play play one. That's why Samsung kena burned badly. And Apple kena lawsuits for downgrading processor speeds when its batteries cannot catch up with processor energy demands.

If user expects to use mobile for 2.5 years, then 6 months for warranty is only 20% of the mobile phone's lifespan.
Not a comfortable number, I would say.

I won't be looking forward to camera on redmi devices, the most they can do is just add one more camera for portraits mode and maybe bigger pixel sensor.

Processor maybe still snapdragon 625.

It's rumored that there will be two processor variants for Redmi Note 5, including a variant with Snapdragon 636 and another variant with MTK Helio P40.

And the pro version is like the note 5A. Build as a selfie phone :(

And the dual camera why is it 12+5? They are making it kinda opposite way.

Maybe Xiaomi is not planning to launch the regular Redmi 5 in India, thus they renamed the Redmi 5 Plus as the Redmi Note 5.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro will likely be called as the Redmi Note 5 outside India, because their Redmi Note 5 is our Redmi 5 Plus. :s13:

Xiaomi is indeed marketing the Redmi Note 5 Pro as a camera phone, with 12MP+5MP dual camera and a 20MP front camera.

The Spectra ISP on the SD636 of the Redmi Note 5 Pro should help it to enhance the photography level of Redmi phones, as seen on the Mi Note 3. :s12:

Shouldn't worry too much on the 12MP+5MP combination, as the HUAWEI nova 2i has a 16MP+2MP dual camera combination and it shoots pretty good photo for a midrange.

Very confusing nomenclature, Redmi Note 5 will be called Redmi 5 Plus here then when this Redmi Note 5 Pro comes here officially, what will it be called then? Redmi Note 5? :s11:

Yeah, it's been said that the Redmi Note 5 Pro will be called as the Redmi Note 5 (红米Note 5) in China.

Other markets(such as Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore etc.) should also be called as the Redmi Note 5 if the market also offer the Redmi 5 Plus.

Oooo nice!

Now, need some actual photos taken by Note 5 Pro for comparison.

Is this the best camera phone from Xiaomi 2017-2018?
