My car got sandwich in nshw 2years ago, repair cost 10k and the car who hits me is a malaysia car. I claimed OD first before proceeding to claim from that person.
What would you think your insurance will do?
Or rather what do you think happened to my insurance premium?
And do let me know that tv show you're referring again.

Let me clarify i didn't claim that you bought a half-fk insurance
The nature which you started this thread suggests to me it is just for discussion sake but now you said it happened to you.
Firstly,since yours is a new car. If your car is bought from AD,I hope you bought your insurance offered by them. Their bundled insurance comes with additional coverage and at additional cost which many people here simply forego it and chose their cheaper options elsewhere.
Next, for AD again, they should've some sort of in-house insurance assessor to help you file the case. SOP is you claim yourself for repair first while case is put on hold pending the other person action.

Yes from AD. I report through them. They advice me claim own insurance if I want to repair it fast. Today I call the person and she said not yet report since the accident happen few days ago. Iirc, it should be msig. I always find the sales person to handle it yearly so I didn't take note of it
But i remember the plan name includes AD/vehicle make not some generic one like Value+/Value+ premium/value+ comprehensive. Or is that's why i got a better service? Maybe AL5509 can advise
Yes,you have to claim yourself first because the other guy didn't report it then both insurance will work out something(assuming that's what the AD person mean),don't expect it to be fast.
If that guy do report then his insurance company will send a surveyor to look at your damages before deciding on compensation.
Iirc the 24hours rule doesn't apply for weekend and public holiday but as long as you abid to it then don't worry about it.
