can this be used for the fiber?
or there is another model with Digital voice?

Depend on how/which service you want to use. If using Singnet, you must let it operate behind a VLAN-capable switch, else you use it as a wireless access point.

After Singnet came and replaced my 2wire 5012NV, I replaced the DIR-655 that was operating behind the 2wire with the RT-N56U.

I first use the 2.4 GHz band for testing Speedtest.net. Speeds were no different from DIR-655. But switching to 5.0 GHz band, my speeds were as fast as if not faster than using Aztech Homeplug HL280E.

On 5.0 GHz

On 2.4 GHz

On Aztech homeplug HL280E

I am on 200Mbps plan. The wireless router is located in the living hall about 10 metres away from my laptop, which is in the study. The door of the study is closed, but even if opened, there is no direct line of sight.

The RT-N76U was announced at the same time as the RT-N56U last year. The latter started showing up only end of last year. The former is not even listed on Asus website.

Dual Band Qns

Currently using Dlink 655.

If I upgraded to a dual band router, do I need to change to a corrosponding dual band adapter

or the current adapter is good enough ?

if you change to a dual band router, it makes sense that your adaptor is also dual band.

no point buying dual band router when you are still connecting to its 2.4ghz

that said, most of the newer laptops comes with dual band adaptor. eg intel 4965, 5300 and etc

Hi,
also just bought it today but I fail to set it up. When I plug in the power cord 5G and power led light up blink blink for a while and then all is off. Also none of ther LAN port LEDs light up. I have tried with all my devices incl. modem but I can't access it, nor via switch nor via direct connection to my MAC (which seems not well supported, utilities is only for windows). I also tried different cables like included one and cat5.

Anyone can give me a hint ?

Thanks.
