The solution is in the settings. Go to General Settings using yr hubstation remote control. Find "Audio" then de-select "Dolby". Not every channel has dolby support. Once you uncheck it, the sound would return.

Thanks for the advice, I've set it to non-Dolby. I'll update on how it works :D
Cheers

Actually the new box also did not solve much of the remote control problem. I will be providing a more detailed review after another week of monitoring.

CAmping here for your review.
One reason that I have yet to get a replacement is because I need to archive my recorded shows.. I am not expecting Starhub to transfer the shows to the new hd...

I'm okay with the remote control though my mum complaint a lot but I'm more concern about the reboot issue. Few times it happen in the middle of my timed recordings. :slant:

If the new hub station can at least solve the reboot problem, I'm gonna get my set replaced.

i also have some problems with HD HS..

1) Cannot create folders, create already will auto disappear.

2) Random power cycle (rarely occur but it happens). Affected a few of my recordings.

3) Unable to do proper series recording for The Pupil (i know Ch5 changed time slot) but delete and re-add sometimes have issues again.

4) Most of the time the menu freaking lagging...

Does the new model DCI804SHB resolves all these issues?

Are you referring to the new hubstation hd box? What is power cycle? I didn't face the folder creation problem with my new box. Also the lagging menu was due to the remote control.

Btw, the missed recording maybe due to the fact that the programmer missed inputting episode info.

Update

Hi, I just saw this thread.

I had this similar problem for about 1.5 years, where the remote control is either overly sensitive or insensitive. When the channel up key is pressed, it'll activate one of the numeric buttons or I can keep trying to change channels while the setup box doesn't respond at all.

I called up starhub and they simply asked me to change the remote. I had changed my remote twice, with the latest last weekend for a brand new remote, but the still persist.

Really fed-up with the whole experience.

Just want to update on my starhub problem.

I called starhub's tech helpdesk and went through a process of verifying my hub station's problem, and they sent someone to replace the hubstation the next day.

On the day they replaced the box, the same problem persist although not as serious (in terms of the lagging response after remote is pressed). The starhub guy tried to switch off my TV's energy savings settings and the hubstation miraculously worked perfectly! I have no problems with it since.

If your TV has energy savings mode turned on, try turning it off and see if the slow hubstation response is resolved. Hope this helps. :)

Firmware upgrade rolled out on Oct 18 for DCI804SHB HD Hubstation fr 1.61_00 to 1.81_00 solved the remote control issue so unlikely anything to do with energy savings setting.

Really? Ok, I'll try turning on the energy savings to try again. Thanks!

I just tried turning on energy savings and remote gone mad again. Confirm its my energy savings settings.

I remember the starhub guy said this problem affects LG (mine's LG brand) and one other brand which I forgot.

Wow, very odd indeed - which LG model are you using?

I tried yesterday night to turn off the energy savings and found that the lagging for remote control improved. Not sure if it was due to the firmware update, but I shall go try later when I reach home if the remote control is completely resolved with the energy savings turn off.

Overall, the new Hubstation HD box solved all the problems but still sucks on the remote control issue.

From what the tech guy that came down to change my box, he said box and remote are manufactured by different brands (eg. Philips..etc but I forgot which brands). That is probably why always have some remote issue due to incompatibility. Dunno how true is it.
