hi,

i will be footing my wedding dinner bill of about 16k. what would be the best way that I can maximise my cashback?

I will be using my wife and my scb manhanten card:

I plan to spend 4k using each manhanten card, i will get back $200 cashback for each card.

so i still have 8k left to pay. which other card offers the best cash rebates?

thanks for the advice! :)

If I am not wrong, UOB ONE Card offers the next best cash rebates.

UOB ONE Card

For almost anyone who like to shop at grocery shops under the diary farm group (cold storage, giant, s&s) etc, HSBC revolution linked ezlink card should be your best choice most of the time. You get a flat rate of 6.5% rebate for anything under $50. Just link a few cards to your revolution (max 7) and split your purchase since the rebate is same regardless of amount spent. With passion card they should be the most attractive places to shop in sg, even cheaper than fairprice for the majority of stuffs. A lot of other places are also accepting ezlink nowadays so the rebate can build up very easily.

You should also have a citi-SMRT card or maybank F&F card handy as the ezlink readers tend to be not so reliable or you want to pay for large bills at places other than S&S. citi-SMRT gives a max of 7% (2%+5%) for single bill of more than $50 and F&F is a flat 5% (including fairprice, another good thing abt this card).

So as long as you spend $200-$400 a month at diary farm supermarkets, the HSBC card + passion card is definitely your best choice. (as quarterly rebate is capped at $100 and a minimal monthly spending of $300 is required). Just get another card if you spend more.

The HSBC card now is also giving away $5 coffee bean cards for every 3 visa paywave transactions regardless of amount. So you can just go n get cheap mineral waters 3 times will do. Max 6 cards per account per months, good deal.

afaik rebate for ez link onli works for ez-reload, and your ez link card does not auto top up at shops (onli at bus/mrt), so when u have little value in card theres not much u can buy......

That's why u need to link multiple ezlink cards to ur hsbc revolution. It's unlikely that they will all run out of balance at the same time, assuming u r still spending on public transport.

I believe it is aldy much more convenient than meeting the minimal spending requirement for 3 months of UOB one card, just keep track of your balance for different ezlink cards on your phone.

the UOB ONE card seems the best deal for cash backs given that is is 3.33%

assuming min $300 spend each month right?

If not Stand Chart Manhattan card offers 0.5% for monthly statements below $1k

For the Stand Chart Platinum Visa/MasterCard Credit Card, they put there "Unlimited 1% CashBack on all MasterCard Debit Card spend" meaning no min spend also can get 1% cashback?

high cash back only for grocery shopping and certain selected merchants
that's why i only use for grocery...
think normal cashback is only 0.5%

It depends on what purchases.

Citibank SMRT Platinum Visa Card only enjoy up to 5% rebate on grocery not 7%.

Citibank SMRT Platinum Visa Card

UOB ONE Card enjoys a maximum of 3.33% cash back.

Normal cash back is only 0.3% provided your monthly statement spending is more than $600.

I believe the 7% grocery cashback for Citibank SMRT is referring to the 5% cashback specific to the card, and 2% citirebates for all citibank card.

how to hit that leh?

Pay bills
Pay for dinner/lunch
Pay for movie
Pay for online purchase

Sometimes when I only left few dollars or cents to hit $300, I will just pay that tiny amount first to hit $300, after that wait after credit card bill date then pay the renaming amount :s13:

Re SCB XtraSaver account and the card that comes with it,

Personal Banking - Deposits - XtraSaver Account - Standard Chartered Bank Singapore

for non-petrol purchases, u get 2% cashback (assuming monthly chequing balance >6k)

but why is it in their example below for Mastercard spend of $300 only get $3 cashback (1%)? shouldn't it be $6?

2% is only if you do not use the card for petrol. As long as you pump even 1c worth of petrol on the card, your cashback drop to 1%.
