Sorry but I beg to differ with reizer. WQHD resolution is great for the 27" screen in 16:9 aspect ratio... IF the user is looking for a larger desktop to show more icons and more windows. However, this resolution can for SOME people be too fine-pitched, which makes icons too small. Those with not so good eyesight, especially, should make sure they can get used to WQHD.

Sure, we can switch the monitor to 1920x1080, but the image quality will not be as sharp as in the native WQHD native mode. On the contrary, 1920x1080 on a 27" monitor may result in desktop icons that are too big, and fonts that are too large for some. But specific groups of people actually WANT such a desktop. People who use the monitor from too far a distance, for example (for whatever reason). Or those who watch a lot of 1080p video/movies. The use of a scaler to display a 1080p movie in WQHD is always less optimal than 1:1 display.

My warning has no direct relevance to the 2713 per se... but to anyone considering any WQHD monitor. Do go and see a monitor at that resolution for yourself. Do what you normally do on the monitor and see if the image and resolution is suitable for your needs. Sweeping statements such as "WQHD is the way to go on 27"! Ignore the lower-resolution monitors!" sound reassuring and romantic but there is a very specfic reason why so many established monitor manufacturers are still producing 1080p 27" monitors, at various price levels.

Good point, but here are a few things that you can do that will work for 90% of your computing tasks assuming you're using windows 7 if you find default font and icons to be too small at 2560 x 1440.

a) under display properties, set size to medium (125%) or large (150%) depending on your preference. This will change the default font and icons to become 25% / 50% larger.

b) in your preferred browser, usually under advanced settings there's a option to set default zoom %. Set it to 125% or whatever percentage you're most comfortable with.

Now you have a screen that's crystal sharp and icons and text are no longer miniscule. It won't affect everything of course, but I've set up a 30" for my parents under 25% settings and they don't squint when they use the computer at their home.

1920 x 1080 at 27" unfortunately, because of the larger pixels, images just don't look as good and fonts not as sharp when you're browsing.

I am keen on getting this 27" monitor but wasn't sure if my old graphics card Nvidia 8800gts will be able to drive this?
Can anyone please comment. I really don't want to invest in another graphics card because I don't game., just web surfing, spreadsheet and videos... thanks!

Received my monitor from Dell last nite. Can tell the diff compare to my HP 24" monitor though I was expecting sharper image during video playback..

Do I need to register online for the warranty?
