Did you keep the tiny cap that came off?
That part can be solved by using old mobo Lga775, if you can find it by removing the NB caps,

For that scratch, is it deep, can see the Integrated copper lines of Pcb?
If that is the case, no point of reviving it, probably beyond hope because it will caused shorting, or no boot.

Hi spyboy48, can you revive my 4770k?
One cap (first from the right) was cut off
PCB was scratched (line on the right, bottom left)
Please let me know, thanks.

if you need expertise in soldering or servicing your System.
Jonathan, he was the one who soldered back the cap on Haswell chip
Added some info...
Just side track a bit, I went to visit 2 well known Guys, Derrick and former Service engineer Jonathan from CDL. One of the best after sales service from CDL(even all the technicians at SLS talk about) .
They're out on their own, and they're the Boss now!
I heard that they will offer Gigabyte products and "Rma" service in the east, Bedok central(opposite Public Library). Mobile Phones too. Very convenient to those in the East.
Some pictures:

Getting ready! besides the Bedok clinic and a salon.

ClammySlayer's 4770K delidding was done, 100% perfect and PCB Lacquer 3 coatings.
Zippo was used with cotton bud in cleaning up, making sure no sweat or finger print stained.

Great Service!

My delidding job took only 2 days to complete and temps dropped by 15-20 degrees on average. Spyboy was even nice enough to drop me a SMS to ask how things were! Awesome customer care and I highly recommend! :s13:

Yesterday, AsakuraJames came in a hurry and passed me this package while in his taxi, and left.
Normally, I will collect after job completion. Didn't know it was placed nicely inside, until I opened it....hehe! true gentleman who place his trust with me totally 100%.
All brand new bundle set :s12: for delidding :s12::s12::s12:

Look how thick that junk of thermal paste! heat transfer needed to pass thru it.

Do note that not All intel chips are the same! It doesn't mean I have one good chip and ALL Intel chips can do 4.5Ghz! Some got cool chips and most are hot chips on the average, with Intel thermal paste is a joke.
Cleaned away that junk of rubbish and replace with Liquid pro.

Laptop chip i think no need to delid, already a bare chip.
Just replace thermal paste will do...look out at Youtube for any particular models and see how they remove your Lappy.
I did tried and used "IC diamond paste" on it and Viola! 18 degrees dropped.

The intel heatspreader, like what ikoori stated was soldered onto it.
Need heat to melt the solder between the silicon die and the heatspreader.

This is what we want but intel put horrible thermal paste instead on Ivy and Haswell.

info here:
HOW TO REMOVE i7 IHS

interesting
but honestly i think my 930 has lousy thermal paste on it as well
to get a stable 4ghz on my noctua, i will get 90degrees on realtemp

Yours is soldered, so not to worry. Maybe you should down clock instead, finding a sweet spot and temp.
Stock i930 is 2.8GHz, so maybe lower to 3.6Ghz from your 4GHz overclock?

very, very nice.
perhaps 1 day I also send a 3570k down if I go nuts over overclocking!
have an oc 3570k chip at about 72 degs hottest core at 1.29v prime stable 2h(dota/sc2 stable >6h!), another non-oc 3570k which is around 50+ degs at load.

with delid prob can drop down 10 or more degs!
