Isn't it common sense? You are trying to pay with 2 cards at the same time, you tell me whether the reader will be confused or not?

OK, have gone thru all three pages and webpage for the card as well. Here is the synopsis I make and please correct me if I am wrong:

- The card consists two facilities: EZlink and AMEX

- Card can be purchased online or at Translink offices. Online card gives personalized appearance, however it costs $10 i.e. for $50 you will get $40 in the AMEX facility. Plus $3.5 is charged for shipping.

-If you buy the card at Translink office there is $5 charge: for $15 you will get card with $10 on Amex facility.

- EZlink facility is empty regardless the purchase method.

- Each of the facility can be independently loaded using third party credit cards and additional points for online transactions.

- During the promotion period - till Feb/14, for spending more than $50 there is 5% cashback for retail spending via AMEX facility. The same cashback % amount is offered for EZlink facility as well, however cashback amount is capped to $5 for AMEX facility (i.e. $100 spending per month) and $2.5 for EZlink on transportation charges ($50 spending/mo)

- Using AMEX facility allows the card to be used as ordinary credit card where AMEX is accepted.

- Reloading and using AMEX facility is subject to fees according to this page

Advantages:

- If there is an option to use AMEX facility for recurring or ordinary expenses for less that $1000 the card allows generating points/miles via third-party credit card which offers such option (DBS Woman's, UOB PPV), while using credit card directly for such expenses would would not generate such points due to certain restrictions.

- AMEX facility can be attached to PayPal as a payment method and enable the card for paypal purchases

Disadvantages:

- cross border and cross currency conversion might cause extra fees up to 4% of the transaction amount.
- it is not possible to cancel the card and get remaining funds back until the expiration period
- it is not clear if card can be used for online purchases directly and what are consequences.

Additions/corrections - welcome

There is a fevo pre paid master card which is similar to amex imagine just that it has a mastercard purse instead of amex purse. In this case, isnt the fevo prepaid master card better off since mastercard is more widely accepted than amex. The trick to topup using dbs woman or uob ppv shd apply as well. Any comment anyone?

Wow. it look great, anybody tried with this?

I wonder what is the transaction for topping up considered? but basically mastercard is much better than amex.

I have tried the Fevo card and it is a disaster.
At least when i tried, I could not add it to Paypal.
Retail purchases frequently could not go through.

Which is why i was pretty cautious with regards to the Imagine Card, but so far so good.

The only thing is that there is a cross border fee when you make online payments at overseas merchants.

When did you tried using that card? I wonder is it due to the card numbers not properly registered? since it goes by mastercard, by right it shld tap on mastercard credits. Could it be the retails try to charge you via the EZlink card function instead?

Did you check through your transaction details for foreign currency payment? I noticed something unusual. E.g. You got charged S$20, with S$0.5 fees. And assume you got S$10 remaining after this payment fully settle. If you charged another S$1 on it, you remaining will turn to S$8.5, I.e. S$0.5 just disappear... It only happened for small amount of foreign transactions, but for large amount one, it will be OK. Anybody encountered this?

How is the Imagine Card app by the way? Can you log in once and always check your balance easily, or is it like the M1 prepaid MC app where you have to log in every time (or every couple of days, can't remember) just to check.

My card was registered. Retail was definitely instructed to charge to MasterCard. Actually Fevo has a Facebook page where you can see other people encounter similar issues.

Did you manage to solve your issue?
Top up this card will also get 10X reward?
If true this card is definitely better than amex since most of the outlet doesn't accept amex.:s13:

I gave up on this fevocard, but that was mid last year. Feel free to try it out yourself, maybe things have improved.

Wrong, i do not know how you derived the 4% charged, you can only be charged foreign transaction fee or cross border fees. Cross border fees are charged when transaction is in local currency but merchants is non-local thus foreign currency transactions will not be charged with cross border fees, its either 0%, 1.5% or 2.5%, there is no double charging.

I use it to pay for bills with Amex safekey for online transactions, also attach to paypal etc. I don't see why you can't use for any online transactions. You need to register your particulars with ezlink/amex to use the card so it should work as any Amex card.
