Using indoor antenna for dvb-t2
If this is the case, then you may not need the a/b antenna switch. You are aware that the hdmi out (dvb-t and dvb-t2 MediaCorp channels with video and audio) from the set top box goes to the tv set's hdmi in.

Your normal matv or scv wall point (rf signal) goes to the rf input of your tv set to receive the usual analogue tv channels. So the a/b antenna switch is not needed.

Did you ask because you are a Starhub subscriber and your TV's hdmi (1 only?) is being used for the Starhub stb?

No I'm not Starhub subscriber.
Will try connecting the scv point to my rf input of my TV.

Thanks.

i can receive all 7 digital channel but my analogue channels totally cannot make it. some analogue channels also don't know from where and i cannot even find the free super sports arena channel. any advice on my setup so that i can receive both watchable analogue channels and the digital ones? tia.

It's good that you can receive all 7 digital channels and why do you still want analog TV channels? As for the free SuperSports Arena, it's only available in analog format through the SCV point at 76.25MHz. :)

if ur AVR supports DD+, i think u should set stb to "BS Output" or passthrough so that the HTS will show the dolby logo.

On the set that I have, it has HDMI RAW On, which DD has no problem, just with DD+.

Take note if I choose other options like PCM or HDMI RAW Off, DD will either be stereo or no sound (can't remember exactly).

hmm... then r u sure ur HTS can support DD+ :s11:

yesterday i rechecked my TS recorded files using VLC Player and confirmed that 5(HD) using AAC 5.1, AAC 2.0 and DD+, 8(HD) using AAC 5.1 and AAC 2.0.
surprisingly, my VLC Player got sound for AAC 5.1 and DD+, but no sound for AAC stereo. :s11:
viewing on draco stb no problem.

Mine also cannot play 2nd audio stream from recorded ts files. You may wish to try Linux VLC, if you have it. Reconfirmed that it worked for me. See below:

Update: VLC linux can play the second audio stream. All my Windows 7 PCs and XP netbook, with different version of VLC, cannot play the second audio stream

Hi, lifeishard

If you missed the super sports arena channel and other analogue channels, the use of an a/b antenna switch as quoted by koreanlover in post #1877 is what you need.

Refer to

A/B Switch Setup

mentioned in my post there. Besides the a/b antenna switch, you may need the followings:

a) For step 2 refered to in the wiring guide, a F male to F male connector as shown
F-Double-Male-Connector.jpg
or cable
PWD_CTL1F-_.JPG

b) For step 3, a IEC Female to F Male Connector as shown

c) For step 4, find the original cable you used to connect from the scv point to your tv set, or else buy a new cable.

A lot of useful info in here. But everything is scattered and lost among the massive thread. I would like to highlight some of the important post.

Tips about buying a DVB-T2 tuner overseas.
Not all DVB-T2 tuner set top will work in Singapore. It has to support DVB-T2 version 1.3.1. Older versions will NOT work in Singapore. Be careful.
Click on the spoiler.
Tips to buy DVB-T2 set top box

There are two variants of made in China set top box in the market:

1) uses CPU MSD7816. In this model, there are two different kind of demodulator chips :MSB1230 and MSB1236. Older box comes with MSB1230 and does not support DVB-T2 v1.3.1. Newer box comes with MSB1236 and supports v1.3.1.

Sometimes, the seller refers the older model as T2600 and the newer model (with MSB1236) as T2660. Please note that newer box and older box use an identical casing and have an identical model name such as T2-8902, T2-8807 etc. Please look at their demodulator chip when you want to buy the box.

2) uses CPU Ali M3812. This is newer model and demodulator is integrated into the CPU. Ts model supports the DVB-T2 v1.3.1
I suspect your DVB-T2 Set top box is older version ( v.1.1.1 or v.1.2.1). To receive local DVB-T2 channels, your DVB-T2 set top box must support v.1.3.1 .

Previously i bought one DVB-T2 V1.2.1, now it can't receive any DVB-T2 Channel. Recently i get a new DVB-T2 v1.3.1 SetTopBox (designed by local company),i can receive all the DVB-T2 & T channels in my reside area (Jurong East) via indoor antenna(No power required).

Be careful, when you buy a DVB-T2 receiver online.

Set top bought overseas that are known to work

Btw I received this tuner liao.

I'm pleased to report that it works in receiving the Singapore channels. Just one quirk is that for HD channels, the audio do not automatically come on, but that's because somehow, the audio is not under the default (English) option, so we have to manually select to the alternative audio channel when we tune into a HD channel.

Is important to make sure the brand you purchase do support firmware upgrade.

By the way, anyone notice channel 8 audio seem at time distorted? Other channels seem fine.

I have been using the cheapo V antenna for years now. Recently those cheap hardware shop (those brightly lit ones) still sell it but the quality is damn lousy. My pictures are come on and off and now it works and a hr later i need to tweak it again. Its a contact issue and i rectified it but it still comes and go randomly (suay suay my recording of last week star awards was a blank clip)

I see many bros recommend the daiyo antenna but its really way off my budget (60+ iirc)
Is there any other ways to obtain a better antenna

I'm using the V type cheapo antenna and have same encountered like you when I use first few days... This antenna cannot bent fully as the copper wires is very thin connection to antenna by soldering. End up I need to dismantle and solder it again... after that it is OK.. maybe wires was broken so this connection is on/off.. do try to solder it if possible.

You may wish to try my prototype which I just made:

Step 1, strip off about 12 cm of insulation from one end of a suitable coaxial cable, as shown
cbUXHsK.jpg

Step 2, separate the centre conductor and the screen wire and twist the screen wire together. There is no need to remove the insulation of the centre conductor if there is no copper foil or aluminum foil covering the insulation. Bend the centre conductor and the screen to form a "T" as shown

The results of the reception as used for my Draco in the living room:

Chan 27 >90/98 (Signal Intensity/Picture Quality)
Chan 29 >90/98
Chan 31 >90/98
Chan 33 >90/98
Chan 38 >60/98
