Cab from airport to Bangkok is 500b for small car, 700b for big car, think is abit too expensive, but no choice, that is what the counter people told me. Now they have a machine to get cab ticket, you will be assigned to the lane. Again the cab driver will ask for 500b at least.

Asiatique need to take boat there about 10 to 15 min.
Asiatique food mostly bars like clarke quay, slightly pricey.

Patpong things not cheap. My friend asked before for a leather bag, they quoted us 2000b lol ... Really is not worth going there lol ...

Pratunam area always forever jam. For example, City Hall to Orchard area, can jam up to 45 min lol ... But the nearest bts in pratunam is chidlom stationm, 10min walk to platinum mall.

There is BTS & MRT which are train. the different is they go different places and used 2 different card as they are different company. you would most likely only need to take BTS.

Taking Airport link and changing to BTS is good enough, sometimes even faster than taking a cab, its cheaper too, though converting back to SGD its not alot, but still worth experiencing since its ur first time.

hi bro,

maybe for first day u can start with platinum mall then to siam area for night bazaar. 2nd day then opt for pratunam market cos if u can wake up early about six, the clothings would be cheaper cos they doing wholesale. In ur itineary, most of ur journey is around the siam and pratunam area, would suggest taking tuk tuk. its around 80baht per trip max but have to be firm. remember when the first tuk tuk offer u e price, reject it cos definately chop carrot then the one quening behind would offer u a lower price and the most important thing is go to only the place u want to go, don't listen to them when they suggest you to go to other places. Dont waste ur time at patpong. u will find that the place there is 'see no touch, touch no see, see and touch, pay many many money.' unless ur thai language is very guat.

BTS / MRT are both similar to our SMRT and they serve the bangkok metropolitan community. BTS is also commonly known as Sky Train and has all above-ground stations (they don't call sky for nothing). MRT stations are all underground. As BTS was first built well before MRT, most of the key attractions are already connected by BTS.

the airport rail link (SARL) links bkk metropolitan to its new Suvarnabhumi airport on the east. this link doesn't serve the old don mueang airport which is to the north of bkk.

rabbit card is the stored-value card for the BTS system. and no, you can't used it interchangeably with MRT or SARL. all systems have their respective stored-value cards. there is an ongoing project to integrate all these cards (+ ferry & buses too) into a one-ticket system. but it's not going to happen tmr.
(note: i like the fact that i can choose to recharge my stored-value card by credit card at the station. and unlike our cheapskate SMRT, in Thailand they don't levy administrative charges because one pays by card! )

buy rabbit card is more convinence. for my ctc trip, have seen many peopel queue up to get bts ticket to take the bts train. hence with the rabbit card, you no need to queue up, just like our ezlink card ....

bts is like our MRT ....
Bangkok have 3 trains from what I know:
BTS, MRT, Airport shuttle (city line or express line)

I use the Rabbit card too & would top up at less crowded stations. No hassle of Q-ing to get change and then to buy the BTS ticket.

i just went to bkk last week, and use the GRAB Taxi app to book a cab. they go by meter, and cost less than 400 baht (including the toll and booking surcharge and also tips!) but had a bit of problem communicating with the taxi driver though..had to get help from the airport staffs to find where is the taxi...lol

Good and Bad lah ...
Airport train wont jam that's true.
Once I have 5 luggages lol ... Then I took cab from grand sukhuvmit to phya thai station. Then took airport express back to airport. No much ppl. 90b only. coz we left less than 2hrs to departure time ...

I have also taken cab from airport to riverside area hotel .
Flight landed in evening time, so jam until 1.5hrs ....
Take cab try to reach airport earlier ....

My last week Bangkok back to airport journey only 35min, no jam...
Reach airport about 12+ local time, flight depart at 2.30pm local time ...

thanks guys for the comments. really appreciate it.

Btw, i thought pratunam market is a night market right?? and centralworld is just beside platinum mall and big c just opposite central world?

decided to take out patpong market and just spend more time at asiatique since it seems quite happening from pictures..althernatively i also shortlisted siam night market to go if asiatique is not my cup of tea.

just to check..if my flight is at 6pm.what time must i leave pratunam to be safe? i was thinking 2pm.

chinatown only go there buy ling zhen xiang if u want ...
but mbk, platinum mall area also have people buy their products and sell.
Would recommend go there for zi cha, as is super expensive.
one small bowl of sharks fin is 13-20sgd per person ...
At night many zi char restaurant opens, and is not cheap :)
