For me, its the latter....wifi connected, lan connectivity ok.... wan ie internet connectivity is totally lost.... it is possible for the root cause to be the isp...... but highly unlikely. was on 68u previously.... no such problem at all
yep, it could still be the router but some diagnostic ideas:

- when it happens is it one device or all affected?
- when it happens can you ping IP addresses (not URLs) on the WAN side from your troubled device? (Trying to eliminate DNS problems). Can you even ping the WAN-side gateway (shown by clicking on the WAN globe on the router's network map) from the device?
- how about pinging from the router using Network Tools?

Hi jk,

Can you tell us over at SNB:

1. Once you assign a priority to a device using the "Adaptive QoS - WAN/LAN Bandwidth Monitor" is there anyway to undo it? We know how to change it to another priority, but not how to reset it to "unassigned", unless we completely reset the router.

2. What priority does a device have that is unassigned? For example, if we assign one device as "Lowest" priority, one as "Medium" and one as "High" will an "unassigned" device be lower than lowest? Or medium, and the "lowest" device a lower priority?

We have realised that no one knows the answer to this. although we think the answer to 1 is that it's not possible!

currently i using

pce-ac66u on my PC
ac66u as main router...

wireless i only can get 340mb / 1gb fibre plan

if i get a ac87u as main router, and ac66u as a bridge for my pc
will i see any improvement on my wireless speed? will ac66u act as a repeater for other devices too?

Hai...... prob is that wifi stays connected but no internet connectivity. ....

Clear nvram and reflashed firmware countless times already. Maybe need to rma my set.

Hi All

I have been patiently monitoring the machine:
2.4GHz is doing fine, no drops for three/four straight days
5GHz, LAN is connect but WAN connection drops for short moments a few times within an hour. On Win7, wireless icon shows connected but no Internet during that few seconds of each drop episode.

What I have done since last Thursday:
- factory reset (5 sec press on reset button)
- flash 4950
- factory reset (5 sec)
- reconfigure basic WAN and wireless
- reboot the machine

Put two notebooks using Intel 7260 with latest drivers. Both connected to a real-time stock ticker. After three days, the notebook connect via 2.4GHz is still running, the other notebook connected via 5GHz has connections drops right on the first day.

I think we need to get terminology clear. Do people mean wifi connected, but no wifi throughput, even on LAN (a common problem with earlier firmware, but now should be fixed), or wifi working on LAN but no INTERNET, i.e. WAN, throughout (wifi working normally)? Because we've already had one example where the problem turned out to be with the ISP, not the router.

Jong, looking at my situation, I doubt it has anything to do with ISP. On 2.4GHz, connection is stable but cannot be said for 5GHz.

Dellboy, I suggest that you do a rma. I just did it. Will test the new set later. We have the same problem. Same thinking, shouldn't be the isp as things r working fine on the 2.4 ghz band. Good luck!!!!

Hi Trichard, do you mean that you believe prob will still persist?
Haven't really try out yet... fingers crossed.

There are a couple of ppl who had this problem before... and the recently firmware update solved it. My set however continue to have the same problem.
Therefore am suspecting hardware...

Another reason for that may be that the Qualcomm chipset is not compatible with some of our devices

Fingers crossed, ho_kuku. It's an odd one. I find it hard to imagine how only some devices could be affected in this way, but then we thought the same about that Android zero upload problem! :s11::s11:

Dear Jong99,

Now the default device’s priority is “Low”.
1. To set default setting, then you can just set priority as low.
2. “unassigned” device’s priority is “Low”.

Best regard,
JK

Dear Dellboy,

Your Intel 7260 is AC or N? Intel has two chipsets.

I am using Intel AC7260 without problem with the latest driver.

JK

Thank you jk! Can I just double-check though: Unassigned = low, NOT LOWEST?

Thanks

Same here. AC7260 working very nicely, although I did need to set it to "prefer 5Ghz" to stop it sticking on 2.4Ghz even 1ft from the AP! (Intel's fault I think).

Hi JK

Thanks for replying. My notebooks are using AC7260.

Anyway, I had enough of this nonsense. Just came back from SL and got a new AC68U (no choice, had to get another ASUS because I need to bridge with another AC66U). Updated and configured with half hour. All running good.

Just imagine, using the AC87 to download the AC68U firmware got disrupted twice. This is how bad the situation is...

ho_kuku, too late. Couldn't stand the rubbish anymore and I don't want to gamble with another AC87U.

My set is up for grabs... anyone with highest offer? Otherwise it's going to the dumpster by weekend.

Oic, I almost did the same thing as you.... had a good mind to get back the 68u as it serves me quite well in the past.

so far so good for my rma set... but its too short a time to tell. Am thinking since u may have a faulty set... why not go do a rma and sell of the rma set as new. by doing so, you protect ur potential buyer and also can fetch a better price

Will await your RMA experiment then decide. If your previous set is indeed faulty, may be I'll take a chance and change mine.

The wonders of constant connectivity is fantastic.
