For me, this router is more or less stable since the discovery by bro dfran1 to switch off BeamForming... (http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/92298720-post2016.html) Until today, the same workaround method is still valid...

But the recent beta (6440) seems to have mess thing up. Now back to normal with 6117...

Exactly! And that's the example case I'm talking about. Instead of wasting resources into hunting ghost bugs which ultimately appear to be pebkac problems the ASUS team could focus on tweaking and polishing e.g. beamforming, MU-MIMO, maximizing performance with their products. Things, that with particular hardware make this router so awesome.

Ankhazam

First THANK YOU!! thiamhui , I think you are the only one to actually recognize and always remembers that, I really do appreciate it

!!Please no harm to anyone!!

I have spent more months in trying to get this to work than probably most, and I am by far no expert at all, I even learned some great things from DaveMishSr recently.

I am / was also one of those guys that complained a lot, only because this router did not work properly at all, I have slowed down cause I am tired of hearing complaints about me complaining.

We had PS4 lag, wifi drops, overheating issues to name a few, Then merlin's firmware went off the deep end also, and I got hammered over there, everyone said it was me, well come to find out it was the startup time and sequence, after that even merlin's firmware was and still is back on track. (to this day I can not believe no one else was having issues for those few months and I was just about the only one, weird :s22:) Also to this day all those that complained about my posts not one apologized, NOT ONE, and after merlin fixed that in his firmware it also had to fix a lot more problems for others.

The moral of the story is, sometimes when someone complains about something small, That small thing may be the key to fixing something big.

So people bring on the complaints!!!! Your problem may actually be the cure for all.

I just do not understand why people can not see this.
Is is me people???

Cheers ALL!!!!!:s12:

A suggestion for those who wants to test out the beta. Do a backup of the current settings in case you need to roll back later.
But do not restore the settings to the new firmware when hard reset is required.

Hi,
thanks for keeping us up to date but could you please explain why is it impossible to add a post section to the update script to make sure that important variables are getting updated instead of forcing us to hard reset and reconfigure everything from scratch?

Hi all, I just bought RT-AC87U but the bandwidth test results is capping me at 400 download. I'm on 1Gbps plan by the way. Is there any settings that I need to set? Thanks

Dear Ankhazam,

You may use GUI to select Factory default settings.

Reset for me is not a problem but I'm spending an hour or two setting up everything from scratch instead of importing settings from previous version...
Can't you simply strip the exported setting from obsolete settings and only import those relevant???? It's problematic to assign 40 static IPs, QoS polices, DPI policies and other stuff for the nth time....
