Adaptive QoS is still broken with this release, back to 7177.
I'm using Adaptive QOS and don't see an issue.
Are you talking about the Drag n Drop color options?
If so yes they seem to be broke.
I e-mailed asus awhile back and was told that the color options are just for when you use the Apps tab.
Adaptive QOS is just the drag n drops in QOS games, web exc.
So the BW color options and Adaptive QOS are two totally different systems.

JK could you shed some light on how exactly the BW color options work?
What's the difference between the BW color options and using Adaptive QOS?
After the e-mail I'm under the impression that they can't be used together.
Am I correct??

Asus,
As of a few weeks (minimum) I have been noticing LAG while playing online CODAW with the PS4, lately it has been so bad, I just shut it off (no matter what time I play), and my PS4 lag test that I do was great, even when my wife (this morning) complained about slow loading of internet pages.

So I played some games this morning and again I was at the bottom of the list because no matter what I did in the game my bullets were not counting (killing anyone), SO I flashed dd-wrt and I went from bottom of the list to top of the list with my bullets counting like they should, in only the 10 minutes it took to flash.
There is absolutely no way PS4 servers would change in 10 minutes.

The only conclusion I can come to is my (sucky) ISP does not like something you are doing, maybe because I only have 30meg down and 5 meg up, and you are gearing for much faster speeds?

All I can say this is my findings.
Thank You,
Cheers!!

Bud, the color options on the first tab of QoS is device priority, where you can give more priority to a device over the others.
The second tab where you can choose Adaptive QoS (and theres also classic and bandwith limiter QoS), there you can define Apps. Priorities which can perfectly work toghether with device priority.

I was having trouble with lag on my Xbox One.
It wasn't horrible but I hate lag.
I've been testing new settings with great results.
1 shot 1 kill on COD AW (unless I actually miss)

See if my settings will work for a PS4 please.

First check on your network page and see if the right Icon is showing for PS4.
When my Xbox One is first connected the router actually thinks it's an Xbox 360 so I have to change the Icon.
Second I'm not using UPnP I have my Xbox and Cod ported and using static IP.
I have NAT acceleration OFF ( after doing lot's of research I found that gaming doesn't like CTF and there is a small possibility that using CTF can make you loose bandwidth.
Finally I'm using Adaptive QOS with gaming on top.
I'm not using the Apps awareness tab or colors.

I had issues before and after spending lots of time tinkering this setup is working amazing for me.
Let me know if it works on PS4.

One final note.
I use DNSBenchmark to find my fastest DNS.
It's easy to use and doesn't take near as long as Namebench.
So if you want grab DNSBenchmark and run a test to see if the DNS's your using are actually your fastest.
Mine wasn't so I changed them, the difference is night and day.
If you do decide to run DNSBenchmark don't have anything else running online.
It takes 30min or so to do it's first test set.
During that time it checks all known DNS servers both local and public.
After that list is first created It saves all your fastest DNS's in a list.
Then you can just test.
It's easy and the website gives you lots of info on how to use it.
Basically though you let the test run and It'll give you your list, then run the list.
If you have the sort fastest first button on the top two DNS's will be you fastest.

So if ya want try that out let me know.
If your DNS's are slow you'll feel it while playing online.

Happy Gaming! :)

That's what I thought too and you might be correct.
However when I e-mailed asus support I got an confusing answer.
I was told that to use the BW color options I must also have App Awareness on.
I also asked if both systems would work together and didn't get an answer!!??

I used to have this setup-
QOS on using Adaptive QOS Gaming on top
Apps Awareness on
I only have a few devices so I'd put them in this order-
Xbox One (highest) LG Volt on 2.4 (high) PC (medium) WiiU (low) LG Volt on 2.4 (lowest)

When I used to do it that way my Xbox One would get very mixed results in a speed test.
My normal for XB1 is 65.d 4.22up and 45ms ping
When I'd turn on App Awareness and put my Xbox One on Highest my speeds and ping would go wonkey.
I'd see my speeds on download drop and raise.
Most of the time I'm just my Xbox and my phone on.
So I didn't understand why my speeds would just blah on my Xbox.
After recent testing without Apps Awareness on and no colors, I'm just using Adaptive QOS I've not seen an issue.

JK I'd really like more info on how exactly the system divides bandwidth while using Apps Awareness and colors.
Also after being confused by e-mailing asus support, Can you use QOS and App Awareness at the same time with colors?
Also JK I wanna say thank you and the team at asus for the little things that have been added along the way.
I've owned other products and they just don't compare.
I had been lurking for awhile in the forum and have been using the Betas for awhile.
Love it keep up the good work!
Oh before I forget I noticed that the Wii U doesn't have an icon in the network!

Hi,
I am going to run with dd-wrt for now, and test this, BUT I saved your info for a near future try.
I have tried other DNS servers and I do have one that I use for the ps4 that tests the best so far.
(I am always willing to try more)

On the UPnP I have tried port forwarding many times in the past with this router and it does not work for me at all, only UPnP, as I am also using with dd-wrt.

on the QOS, my problem with that is it likes a maximum, well my ISP (does suck) fluctuates a lot from morning to night, in the morning I get ~35 and night could be ~15-20meg down, so QOS wants a maximum and I can't change that all day, and I need my max when its available, so I would be limiting myself if turned on, and when I do get my lag, nothing else most of the time is using the internet, being only when my wife is home it is getting used.
So on that I know that nothing else is the cause but I could have sworn to leave NAT acceleration on was better in my previous tests, but I will give it a go again and try all your suggestions when I switch back to Asus firmware.

Thank You!

Edit:
I have run that DNS program and found some and all were not better than what I have.
Like I said my ISP sucks. BUT am having better results with dd-wrt on lag hands down.

Also Asus and others IOS 9 beta 2 came out and so far wifi on IOS devices is not impressive, IOS devices on it now actually shut down the network and come back on spastically, I guess apple is trying to save power that way.

Hi Guys,

Does anyone's AC87U performing not up to expectation? I'm living in a 3 bed room HDB, i guess the place is around 90sqm, yet I'm having some dead spots around the house.

The floor plan is almost exactly the same as this one. I marked the location of the router with the green dot. Red dots are some of the spots where signal's very bad.

I can still get 2-3 bars on iphone, but nothing can load. Web's slow, whatsapp takes forever and facetime is not possible.

I have the EA-AC87 as an Access Point (it uses the same Quantenna 5GHz chipset) and have similar problems - mine has strong WiFi signal but dead connection - with my Apple Macbook Pro. From what I've read, OS X and maybe IOS devices have incompatibilities with the 802.11h feature.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6825371

Does your router have the option to DISABLE 802.11h? If yes, try that.

I managed to disable 802.11h on my EA-AC87 through telnet (mine doesn't have that option in the web interface). This might fix the problem with the Macbook - no more dead connections.

EDIT: Still having the problem, just slightly improved. Going to try disabling beam forming and 802.11h and test.

I know I played with the way you are doing things in the past and just tried again and same results, LAG, in just inherit in Asus firmware, most likely from all the bloat they are giving us.
Please no offense Asus, just stating a fact as of recent firmware.
Cheers all!!!

Forgetting network can only be done on your wireless device, not router...
