This is weird. When using the camera, the Auto Mode seems a tad more reliable on the S6 compared to the Note 5. In brighter conditions, when I tap on areas of the screen to meter the exposure, it tends to favour a slightly higher exposure than needed. I had to use the exposure slider to tone it down a little bit from time to time.
Which might be why I'm seeing HDR mode being triggered automatically more frequently. Which isn't a huge issue considering Samsung's HDR mode doesn't look as fake as other phones.
Lowlight situation is the same, it tends to favour a slightly higher exposure than I would have liked, which is similar to the S6 actually. Perhaps this is Samsung trying to showcase (exaggerate) its "brighter" F/1.9 lens.
Image quality is similar to the S6, which is a good thing. But seeing that the Note 4 is a much newer device, the lacked of improvements is actually a little disappointing. The camera brought RAW output and adjustment of shutter speed up to 10s, which are nice to have, but not crucial. But other than that, the camera software seems just a little bit more finicky than the S6 did. Perhaps in the past the Note series always had significant improvements over the S series of the same year.
This is still one of the best camera on a smartphone till date though, no doubt about it.
Full resolution images here, but taken at different times. So not an accurate comparison. For Note 4 and S6, the photos were taken in late afternoon with clear skies, so the images looks more pleasing because of the conditions. But what i'm looking for is the quality, the ease of use, and the image processing.
