Hi guys. Is the 5Ghz-1 is supposed to be slower than 5Ghz-2 ?

Tested using iPhone 6+ on M1 fibre 1Ghz home broadband.

no, both 5Ghz are supposed to be running at the same speed based on the same radio specs..

in ac3200, one 5Ghz may be handling the slower speed while another is handling the higher speed when you have obviously many devices connected to it. otherwise, there is no difference to the radio for 1 and 2, although one is running at the lower 5Ghz channels while another is the higher channels.

Hmm.. I use my phone and do the test on speedtest.net and gotten 2 different speed. On the 5Ghz-2 I can reach 230+ Mbps download speed while on the 5Ghz-1 I get around 150 Mbps download speed. Maybe tomorrow when I get home I will try again..

But on my iPad Air , both seems to be the same around 100 Mbps download speed.

Might be due to interference, channel congestion and even be due to your other devices connected to the 5G-1 and could be pulling down the speed..

But even so, technically the 2 5Ghz bands are identical in technical specs, though each of them is locked down to the lower and higher channels..

In room with 5Ghz-1 :
WiFi signal strength = 2/3 bar
DL speed = 160-180Mbps
UL speed = 100-150 Mbps

In room with 5Ghz-2
WiFi signal strength = 3/3 bar
DL speed = 230 Mbps
UL speed = 100-180 Mbps


Go to living room and try again , both 5Ghz can get 240+ Mbps download , 220+ Mbps upload. Seems like the cause is when I'm in room, my WiFi signal seems to be weaker on 5Ghz-1, thus the drop in speed. Is the router built to be like this?

Did you enabled Smart Connect? If you did, check the Smart Connect Rule. There are 3 Bandwidth Utilization Setting Percentage. That might be the reason?

The power allowed on the lower 5GHz channels is lower than that allowed for the higher channels.

Check your cfe whether you are using SG or US.

Last night my wifi connection to the AC3200 drops for no reason.
Could not get connected either on my iPhone or iPad or even my laptop.

Had to do a reboot of the router.
It was hot when I touch the router.

Anyway to diagnose what was wrong?

probably just a glitch. if after reboot its fine, then just ignore it lor..

I don't think so.. my router is also warm to touch, bt as long as it is placed in a well ventilated environment it should be fine..

wireless not working on my AC 3200

Hi all

my wireless on my ac 3200 is suddendly not working anymore, in the system log it says :
2.4 GHz radio is disabled

5 GHz radio is disabled

5 GHz radio is disabled

any idea what the problem could be?

Do a hard reset and try again. Test LAN and see whether it works. Could be your wireless burnt out

i have off/on it again. LAN is working... only wifi not working... have done a reboot as well.... hmm only bought it 2 weeks ago (.. when i do a reboot i can see the white light blinking up.. but after that no more..

ASUS@SG,

I just today upgraded to ST 1Gbps Fios.

This morning, I replaced the old 7000 Aztech Router. (needed to check game problem before new Router is fixed)

After putting 7000, I notice that I can no longer go into Aztech 7000 Admin Page. Weird thing happened, Asus web page prompt message that configuration was updated. Did not take a screen shot of the message.

Even the new 7009 router could not go into Admin page, however it can go into User page.

Any way for you guys to find out why is it block?

Because it odd and Admin user cannot get into web page but User can.

I haven't tried to plug in the Asus AC3200 yet.
