Do we have to use the welcome hotel stay benefit or travel credit in the first year? Seems like the virus situation isn't improving soon and travel might be quite hard...

btw, wondering as well how long it usually takes to get card approval, anyone with experience?
Can request for new vouchers and 4days to receive including approval

They just charged me the annual fee, got the card last month.
I am going call them up and see but I doubt they will waive anything or offer anything.

Card is basically useless for the next 6months I would say.

Good luck! and let us know the outcome. I doubt there can be a waiver as it is clearly communicated that the fee is not waivable. But I've heard they could give you extensions.

It will stay useless for at least a year. You think they dare to host big events for their members? Don’t think so. So the promos now also quite half hearted as their staffs all WFH. Suggest you sign up again when all these is over.

Called them up last week and as expected, they cant waive the fee or postpone payment. They said they can waive the late payment charge if I decide to not pay however this will affect my credit rating.

All benefits will be postponed if they reach expiry prior to usage.

I will likely pay the fee simply because the requirements of the card are so high income wise. If something happens and my income level drops - may not be able to apply in the future. The future benefits are worth paying the annual fee despite not being able to use it currently.

Singapore members are always getting the worst deal. Highest annual fee globally too. We are subsidising the Americans and their military personnel (free fee for them).

Yes, this is bs. More members here should complain.
AMEX elsewhere is offering 40,000-100,000 points for annual fee payment since the card is so worthless now + double points.

Here we are just getting double points which garbage.
I called them 2x this month to resolve another matter, and raised this up twice and they said they dont offer anything.

well..
AMEX means AMERICAN express

Ok, on a serious note:
They like to give out these kind of points to Americans because those people are well known to spend beyond their means. This is like a trap to increase their debt or push them to having one if they don't have. Then the credit card companies can leech them off from their debt interest. The great USA economy is propelled by these kind of spenders.

Whereas in Singapore, we might have people who has credit card debt but it is so low, they probably can earn more from annual fees and such, I think.

Get more people in Singapore into credit card debts and the same strategy might start showing up in sg...

I have read that many said 200k is not required for this card. I applied with 150k and was declined. Anyone have any ways of bypassing this? They said minimum is 180k income.
