I can only speak for NTU.

We do go deep into those theories by famous sociologists but they basically span over 2 out of the many modules (Classical and Contemporary). Research components simliarly 2 or 3 modules. The finaly year project is a huge module on its own. The rest of the modules taken are content building.

So basically, we take Core modules and 12 prescribed electives (we can choose from an every growing list of different sociology electives).

This link should provide you with all the info you need.

If it was better, many people would be flocking to SIM instead.

So sociology offered by university at buffalo is lousy? University of buffalo seems to be one of the prominent university in the US. When they come Singapore become lousy?

I can't say if its lousy, never studied there before so I'll keep my opinions to myself. But its not prominent IMO. Ranked at 302 by QS. There are even Malaysian universities that are better ranked.

its about being on or off campus learning

once it went direct learning, general consensus is that it would be perceived to be inferior

Interesting. Seems like how we determine superior or inferior is based on perception or consensus. Any better scale to measure this?

Compare the number of modules taken. That is one simple way. UB loses out anyway. Or you could compare employability. That would require sim to take graduate employment surveys. Or you could do them on your own time and compare with other local unis, if you are that keen to find out.
