Hi all. Read from comments in this thread and found acecool aircon service. Have tried em and posted a positive comments 1-2 mths back.

Have recommended to frends and relatives and all their feedbacks are good or really good.

A frend actually tried their servicing, chemical overhall (dunno how to spell), adding an aircon to living room and said the service was really good and the price is reasonable.

Thus im here again to give them a thumbs up for building up my reputation in giving frends the correct company to go to!

Guys,

I'm using a mitsubishi starmex inverter aircon at home, for past 1 month its not been cold and the electricity bills are coming extra like $50 - 70, even at 16c its warm.

Any idea what went wrong? Can call service tech from gaincity since the warranty is still until 2016?

Allow me to ask some questions:

Is your aircon not cold enough meaning still blowing out cold air but very weak and not sufficient to cool your room or is it blowing out warm air?

Are there any blinking lights at your wall mounted unit?

1) If your aircon is still blowing out cold air but not sufficient to cool down your room, chances are the fan coil is dirty and might need a chemical overhual or there is insufficient gas. Dirty fancoil leads to inefficiency to cool the room which means the compressor is working extra hard to try to cool your room down to your requested temperate = higher electrical bills

2) If your aircon is blowing out warm air or blinking, chances are there is a fault in your system and will require checking.

Since you have extended warrenty with Gain City, it would be good for you to get them down to do a check. However I believe if it is due to dirty fancoil, the servicing would be chargable. (All depends on what is your contract terms with them)

Hope you get your problem resolved soon.

So far most of the customers who had engaged Antara got no problem with them. I only know that their timing is tough thatsall.. Other than that... they are good.....

i hired them to drop my mil place to do servicing.
They went up. say aircon cannot be service they charge $40 ?! without even doing anything. say check only. reasonable ??
i call up ghana he personally talk to me... and say it's their company policy... bah balalalalal
worst... he scold me the F word...
i told him ok ... take the $40 and go... no problem ...
i will broadcast his good service across all social media ...
what a SCAM !!!
remember... don't hire his service.. my appointment is at 4 to 5 pm
he turn up at 7pm... and yet got the cheek to ask for money PUI!~!!!

Hi Jason,

Thank you for the advice, as you said, its number 1. It's blowing light cool air, even at 16c full speed, its like a fan now. no blinking leds.

they already came down to do a normal servicing last april and charged me $80(no issues that time).

Just now called, they said will need to check and service, may charge $80 again and this is not covered under warranty.

Can please advice me how much do you charge(estimated) for such issues?

Just had my 6 aircons serviced by Jason personally! (2 units of system 3 from Daikin, installed 9 years ago). I engaged Jason's service because he (and Celia) have been most patient in answering many of my air-con problems for the other apartment.

Jason came at the appointed time. He laid plastic sheet (those you used to cover on table top, which I thougt is very creative as it is water proof and of harder material). He removed the cover and unit (3 at one go) and wash them thoroughly in the toilet.

I appreciate he used his liquid detergent spray for the filter and the unit. He even cleaned every fins with his fingers and dried them neatly by the side. He has 2 cloth, those we normally use to wash car, and they are clean as he keeps washing them.

He inspected the aircon, visually and listen to the sound when he did the vacuuming. (usually the vacuuming was very fast for past air-con service).

He left the aircon on for a while to see if there is any leakage.
Finally, when all is done, he went on to spray water to wash away the dirts on the external condenser units which I really appreciate. (my former service guys will tell me what to do and ask me to spray myself lol, I dare not as I am afraid I will damage the pcb or fins)

The air-cons are very very clean. I told Jason, only my dad washes things like this! very thoroughly and neatly. I felt bad as he came at 8:50am and finished all the 6 units around 1230pm! I have never had my air-con so thorougly cleaned up. Usually when I engaged the bigger firm, they send their servicemen on a very tight schedule. Usually around 15-20 mins for 2 units? I often get kan cheong when they are here.. Jason is fast but unhurried.

Jason is sincere! and he is the boss of the company, you can't compare that to company which engages technicians, especially those on tight schedule or on profit sharing basis.

We are very thankful that we finally find someone we can trust and are encouraged by Jason's passion for his work. We Look forward to his service again a few months down the road. Thanks Celia and Jason for the sharing of your knowledge and time!

Jason, I have a system 2 and for one of the FCUs have stopped working. I noticed that there is still cold air coming up just that i cannot hear the fan motor spinning. What could be the problem? Would i likely need to change the motor?

Hi ChwLim,

When you mean that 1 of your FCU have stopped working, do you mean that you are able to on this FCU and there is cold air coming out but yet you do not hear the sound of the fan motor spinning?

I would gather that when you mean fan motor you are referring to the fan motor of the indoor unit. Are there any blinking light?

Is the cold air coming out of the unit in the form of white smoke and after some time you will hear some crackling sound?

If it is, it is possible that your fan motor or PCB is faulty which is why it is not blowing out air. This could happen when your outdoor condenser is running but yet your blower is not blowing out air. Ice will start to form at the indoor coil and white smoke will come out from the aircon (Icing). When you put your hand there, you will feel that it is slightly cold but what you feel is actually the cold smoke from the icing at the coils instead of the cold air emitted by the blower.

What you can do to check if the fan motor is working is to turn on the unit and shine a torchlight into the blower. If the blower is not turning chances are your fan motor or your indoor pcb is faulty.

Let me know if your situation is otherwise and I will be glad to offer further advice.

I recently did my chemical overhaul with Newway. Called up Zac as mentioned in earlier posts. Friendly and approachable guy. I actually wanted to get Jason for the job but he's pretty packed due to the haze period.

Two guys came for the appt. One Singaporean and his apprentice. They spent more than 2 hrs cleaning just one unit. I didn't really supervise how they were doing the cleaning but from the looks of it, I would say they really put in effort and clean very thoroughly. They laid plastic sheets on the floor, check gas reading before/during/after topping up, check/clear for leakage, dismantle the whole a/c and bring to toilet to clean. Even sprayed some purifier disinfectant solution after cleaning and assembling the aircon, which was rather thoughtful.

The guy who came is humble and knowledgeable. He also told me that actually for chemical overhaul, once every 1-2 years is enough for HDB units (rather than the standard once every 6 mths pitch). Price wise - I think it's cheaper if u svc more 1 unit. Mine is single unit and they charge more for single unit. For single unit, Jason is probably cheaper. My aircon is a lot cooler after servicing. Even though price is a bit higher, for the effort they put in I think it's still worth it, considering I can get an earlier appointment whereas other companies are fully booked till Aug. Also I think Newway runs a team of technicians rather than one-man show, and despite this, quality is not compromised, which is quite impressive.

Will give Jason a try next time.
