Hello Eileenksj,

Is your unit an inverter or non inverter and what is the age of your unit?
When you mentioned cool air do you mean that the air emitted is cold but not cold enough to cool down your room or only room temperature air?

Was the last chemical wash in October done with a hanging tray or fully dismantled?

It is unlikely that your unit require another chemical wash so soon. Also, if the condenser coil is dirty, most likely the other 2 units will also be affected as they are sharing the same condenser.

Based on description, it is possible that the compressor is lacking in gas, expansion valve strainer choked or condenser weaken due to aging.

Hi all,

Anybody got gd lobang for checking aircons, my mbr a/c is cold but the other 2 bedrooms a/c are not cold ! TIA

You can try calling my friend whom has been servicing my aircon for many years. No need quote my name as won't have any special privilege as he treat every customer the same. Am just help to promote his business.

Faulty Aircon Unit

Apologies for hijacking this thread. I have an air-con unit that is unable to function (Cold Air Emission) despite it indicating that there is power supply. Can any contractors here pm me with your contacts and your price for maintenance / repair plus your diagnosis? Thank you!~

Hi guys,

Would like to seek another opinion on the situation.

We are using Mitsubishi Heavy Industries with 1 compressor and 4 (1x SCM80ZJ0S, 3x SRK25ZJ-S)fan coil units. Installed around Apr-2012. Purchased this with the idea that this is going to last us for years before giving up on us.

Recently, found out that the least used the 3 units (SRK25ZJ-S) is not working anymore.
When we press the on button on the remote control, the remote's screen turned on, showing temperature, etc...but actually nothing happens on the unit. There's no light in the aircon unit.

Anyway, we've got a aircon tech to check it up and at the same time do some servicing.

The tech came to conclusion that PCB is faulty and needs replacement. He will check and call back about the price for replacement.
He also did basic cleaning for all the 4 units, and topping up gas (not sure what type of gas), damage: $260.

He called after a few days, quoting $350 for the installation. He didn't really mention if it's inclusive of the PCB or just the service fees. ( I wasn't the one who picked up the phone, thus unable to ask).

It does seems to me that it's due to some faulty electronic component. It's a great blow to us as we thought this would be very sturdy. Besides it's just less than 2 years, and a non-moving part is faulty.....sigh.

So, what would be the price range like for a replacement PCB? Would it be usually be brand new or 2nd hand?
Is the installation cost really that high: $350?
What's the possibility of a misdiagnose?
What's the price range like for a new unit?

It can be the pcb which is faulty or the wiring which is broken to cause the fancoil not to respond to the remote.
Have you tried to on the unit manually?

Hi Juncol,

For mitsuibishi heavy industry, it quite hard to find a second hand part, and there only 1 place you can get the original part and the part is quite ex. what you can do is request the contractor to take the pcb from your working unit and install it in the faulty unit to confirm that PCB is really damage
