Samsung sells the most number of TVs in the world, so the number of issues can be more than others.
So long as the incident rate remains as low as the rest, there is no cause for worry.

However this info is not available to the public easily.

I guess Samsung has done a good job in the marketing and for their attractive price , compare to other brands with same spec, it always be Samsung / LG being cheaper than the rest and that why the market share is bigger.Especially it tend to capture those consumers who feel can see and watch type can already. Why they want to pay premium on orher brand like Panasonic which made good plasma .

I also bought Samsung products before , 3 hands phone and 1 netbook . 2 out of the 3 hands phone spoilt woth lcd screen problem after 1 year and netbook spoilt after 2 years , that why I also stay away from Samsung product .

I have a 40" Series 5 smart tv. Recently, just after the 1 year warranty is over, the tv set is having intermittent fault with CNA and HD5 receptions. At first I thought it is the problem of the central tv antennae. But tests with my DVD recorder's tuner output through the hdmi to the tv proved that the central tv antennae was in order.

Talking about similar specs while attractively priced compared to other competitors, there are many parts in a tv set where their specs do not appear in brochures. I learnt from an insider who once worked in an electronic manufacturer. He told me that the company rejected parts sometimes because the delivered parts exceed the specs. My immediate reaction was a shock but then soon I realised that if the parts just meet specs they could get them at a lower cost. Now I don't hear of this company anymore.

My 4 year old series 4 just kicked the bucket.
On the hunt for a new tv. Think I will not be penny wise and pound foolish this time. Any recommendations for something that will last? My dad is grumbling that it lasted only 4 years when the previous one from NEC lasted more than 10 haha. He says he wants to get a sony. But I guess the panels now mostly come from the same source. urgh.

I assume u're talking about Samsung Techician. Well, just pay the cost of calling them down....if the charges to repair is too much...u can decline.....only charges are for their visit.

Recently bought UA46ES6700 from Gain City, TV delivered on 03/11/2012, wall mounted to be carried out by Samsung Installer on the same day but wait until 5pm they never turn up, called to check with Samsung, they left out my installation schedule, They reschedule my appointment on 10/11/2012. TV remained in box till 10/11/2012.

On 10/11/2012, Samsung Installer came to do the wall mount + mounting the TV on the wall and configure the TV for me, only left out the Internet wireless configuration as my internet is not ready. 5 days later, I got my internet activated and my wireless router up. I got my macbook and smart phone connected to the wireless router. I tried to configure my TV to connect to my router through wireless but unable to, the TV could not detect any wireless access point. I put my smart phone beside my TV and it can pick up at least 10 wireless access points. The TV could not detect any wireless access point, even i manually key in the access point it also could not connect to it. Tried for 3 days still unable to establish the wireless configuration.

End up calling Samsung helpdesk, kudos for their service, they send their technical engineer down to check my tv. After 5 mins of trying, they conclude my TV wireless is faulty. They ask me to call Gain City to feedback their finding to them to see if they can give me a one-to-one exchange since it is only less than 2 weeks of usage. I called Gain City and they respond by feedback this issue to Samsung Sales department. After ding dong for more than 2 weeks, Gain City staff called me to inform that Samsung refuse to give me a one-to-one exchange as the product has passed the 7 days of usage, now they only offer to do a repair. Worst thing, after the day technical engineer inspect the TV, the TV auto switch on by itself for 2 occasions and now i could not even manually key in the wireless access point. Sian.

Moral of the story. Explore the TV as much as you can within the 7 days, test your internet, test your 3D function... etc. Well, serve me right...

That really bad especially your tv is bought brand new!!

But they screwed up your wall mount installation schedule and caused a 7 days delay. After that both gain city and samsung played taiji to each other.Hopefully your tv can be fixed.

Actually the staffs from Gain City are doing a very good job. It is the staffs from Samsung are screwing things up. When i told Gain City staffs about Samsung people did not turn up to do my wall mount, they were quite shock and they call Samsung up to complain. During the ding dong period, i receive calls from Gain City once every 2-3 days to update me. They even help me press Samsung to give me a one-to-one exchange as they are the supplier. However the particular Samsung staff who handle my case knows nuts on technical issue and she is the one who refuses my one-to-one exchange. Even Samsung engineers who come down to inspect my TV say it is possible to ask for a one-to-one exchange as the TV is still new. Really sian.

I still thinking how to use lemon law on this.

Have u tried to email them ? Since the engineer also mentioned it could be possible for 1 to 1 exchange . I believed the staff who handled just want to "makan " u . Get the name of the staff and the engineer . Sometime a email allow more people in Samsung to get involved and aware of your problem . Tell them I buy your smart tv to watch and use Internet . Not buy and send repair straightaway .

- Vacuum Cleaner: Spoilt after 1year of usage, right after the warranty
- Two Door Fridge: Sold immediately, dunno its fate
- LCD Monitor: Screen got few lines 3 years after usage, warranty 2 years
- Mobile phone: Good for 4years plus, but no more using

Now I go for:
- TV: Sony
- Washing Machine: Electrolux / Hitachi

My Samsung 40 inch LCD also gone case after 3 years. Cannot ON with the blinking red light only. Repair is about 200-300. Probably better to get a new one.

After feedback to Samsung Singapore, as expected, no action taken, no call, no email, no follow-up. Customer Service is really bad. I have to go through Gain City to do the complain since i got the TV from them.

Basically, Sony is Samsung. Just different external design.

I do not agree for the repair, i asked for 1-to-1 exchange, end up they refuse the 1-to-1 exchange and decide to give me a full refund. However, its been a week since they reply to me through teleconversation that they will proceed with my full refund. The thing is how long will they take to process my refund?
