Mine is the same at 80degrees. But it remains stable there. Doesn't go up nor down and the router isnt unstable. So i suppose its ok? Can Asus@SG confirm it's norminal working temperature?
Are you using unofficial firmware?
I am using Merlin's latest stable firmware for RT-AC56U, however other users have much lower temperatures on the same firmware.
is it better to look at the AC66U now?
AC56U (newest Asus model) is more powerful than AC66U. You should rather be looking for AC68U (AC66U successor) which is coming out in the next days or weeks.
Can you try do hard reset to test?
I have just done a hard reset and it is still the same at 80 degrees. Can you guys advise if it is normal or should I arrange for replacement? I just bought AC56U few days ago.
I doubt changing another unit would make a difference, i went to challenger to exchange mine to another unit. Same 80 degrees. Gave up and underclocked the cpu until Asus@sg can confirm it is safe to operate at 80
Underclocked? But mine is not overclocked. It runs stock 800Mhz.
I think he changes clock speed to 600Mhz.
