Yes, ASUS DDNS will publish your public IP, then you have to put the port forwarding rule to point to your NAS LAN IP, so you can access it from Internet.

When I went into the router home page, I saw a popup asking to upgrade the firmware to 3459, so I clicked OK.

After the firmware update, the GUI is completely in Japanese! The language tab on the upper right is missing as well. (got the router in Japan last year).

I tried downloading 3459 from Asus Singapore and reupdated it again, but no difference, it's still in Japanese. Any idea how to get it back to English? :s13:

wah.

ASUS New fw no QC one, always fk things up. i think it best not to update LOL ( look at the AC88U Thread)

export set ah?

i think cuz the default is set to jap.

what you can do is put the router into res mode and upload the SG Version via the Windows rescue tool ( included in your CD for the router or you can download)

set your PC ip to 192.168.1.10 and default everything . connect the LAN Cable from your PC TO the router Only (remove everything else)

Press the power button to turn off the router. Keep long-pressing the button [Reset] about 5 seconds. If the power is flashing, the wireless router is on rescue mode. Open -[Firmware Restoration tool], click [browse] and choose the latest firmware which you had downloaded and click upload, and wait for it to upload finish

if still cannot, you flash back the jap version via the tool and see if you can change to english from there
Hope it helps

Thanks man.. I will copy these instructions for later. As I don't really go into settings to tweak my router settings very much, I'm content to leave it for now and to see if perhaps a newer version will address the language issue. :)

I recall there's a change language button near the top right hand corner in the main menu. Maybe your can try that before flashing ?

Oops.. you should try re-flashing a firmware from the Asus sg website then. Hopefully, it will solve the issue.

I stopped updating mine after 9529 because it was no longer giving me problems.

If you see my post above, that's what I did.. downloaded from the Sg website and reflashed but it was still the same. Will try localitguy's method if I need to at some point, but for now will leave it and see if the next release fixes the problem

Fingers crossed it works for you. I usually prefer to read the change log before any updates. So, I downloaded mine from the asus sg website and updated manually. Don't trust the web update mechanism.

My AC87U (near the ONT in my living room) is giving me problems as well - It's on the latest Asus firmware 380.3459.

My desktop is my room using a TP-link T4UH USB wifi adaptor keeps dropping it's connection to the 5Ghz. 2.4Ghz not so much dropping.

How do I fix this? :(
