Decided to start this thread where everyone can consolidate their knowledge on this relatively new product.

fg7003.gif

Aztech product page: http://www.aztech.com/prod_fiber_FG7003.html

1) Gateway is accessible at 192.168.1.254

2) Advanced gateway is accessible at 192.168.1.254/singtel. that's what I call it... (I was told by the technician not to share the pwd. but it is readily available in this forum if you search hard enough. otherwise, pm one of us and try your luck)

2.1) As posted by kahhiang, if you have the newer modem, the -J variant, please follow the following:
Advanced gateway: 192.168.1.254/Singtel (note the capital S)
User Name: tech
P/W: T3ch_L0g1n

3) As told by the technician, VPN does not work (I didn't try)

4) I found out myself (through a painful process) that any IP assigned to 192.168.1.196 to 192.168.1.203 will have problem with the DNS server. You won't be able to access any website if you type in the URL. but if you type in the specific IP address, you're fine. (Please help confirm if you're able)
UPDATE: various users report that this range is reserved for miotv

5) the 2.4G band can transmit up to 300Mbps if you enable channel bonding. Otherwise, it's 144Mbps by default only. To enable, you need to go into advanced gateway and go under 2.4G advanced settings and change Bandwidth to 20/40 Mhz

6) The channel bonding on 5GHz is more scrappy. To enable 80Mhz bandwidth you need to make sure the 5G channel you select has the "/80" behind. Meaning to say, if you're on channel 40, your channel selection should appear as "40/80". Otherwise, you'll be on 20 or 40 MHz only. To change, go under advanced gateway Home network-> WLAN ->5G -> advanced settings. FIRST change the bandwidth to '80MHz on 5G', THEN select your channel. It should have the 'xx/80' now. Save the settings. After saving, you'll see the bandwidth selection change back to '20MHz' but it is actually 80MHz. Aztech claims to be able to support up to 1300Mbps. But my adapter can only go up to 867Mbps, which it's what I am seeing.

7) This device supports 3 guest network per band, making a maximum of 4 networks per band, or 8 if you consider both bands. I am not sure if you can enable QoS on these guest networks as I never played with them. To enable them, find them under advanced gateway.

8) Port forwarding is relatively easy. To do so, I recommend to set a static IP first. Go to the normal gateway site, and create a static IP under 'Home Network Configuration'. It's under these 3 fields titled 'Manual devices reserve'.
After you have set a static IP, go to 'Firewall Configurations' at the top, and select 'Port forwarding' at the sub menu. From here, Interface = INTERNET. Server Name you can use a preset or custom. I usually use custom.

9) It was reported by various users that there is no bittorrent client on this singtel variant. I can't find any such feature myself either.

10) If you have problems mapping a network drive from a Synology NAS, try turning off the QoS service on the router...

Pls contribute if you know anything too!

I did a speedtest using this, before switching back to my Asus Black Diamond.

Huge difference in both directions. I can easily reach 200Mbps using Black Diamond (I'm on a 200Mbps line), but this thing struggles to even reach 100Mbps.

I'm no expert when it comes to router, but this router could be bottlenecked by the processor/ram?

i would think that this router is quite inferior.. it is a cheap device after all.
my 200mbps, is giving me something like 150 to 180 on a good day. sometimes hitting 200+

I just got on Singtel's 100mbps fibre plan and am having problems getting internet connectivity to my desktop PC in my room. (OpenNet fibre point is in the living room)

As my pc doesn't have a wireless card, I've tried using a pair of homeplugs but apparently the electrical wiring set up in my room is not connected to the living room's wiring set up, so can't get any internet connetion

Should I get a wireless usb dongle for my pc? (I get bad 5GHz wifi reception on my iPhone, but ok wifi reception on 2.4GHz when using in my room) *2 walls between the living room and my room

or get a better/more powerful router to replace the Aztech 7003?

Any other solutions/alternatives to get internet to my desktop pc (LAN cable) :s11:

Anyone's help would be very much appreciated! :D

Best solution is to get a contractor to install LAN cable. Something is wrong with your iphone. My child use a Samsung Tab 3 and can get 80-90Mbps .

Please note that by default 5Ghz is already in 80Mhz and auto channel selection will pick those channels with /80.

That is expected because 2.4Ghz tend to penetrate walls better.

you have 3 wireless options (in increasing order of cost):
1. Get a ****ing good wireless adapter. Something with external antenna should be preferable. Pray that the signal will still be good when it reaches your room.
2. Get a wireless repeater.
3. Get a better router. Again, better with external antennas.

Aztech FG7003GRV(AC) DNS

Hello all

1) Just upgraded to 300MB plan and Singtel replaced my PACE A5520N to Aztech FG7003GRV(AC).

2) Logged in to console and realized DNS settings are hardcoded to point to Singtel DNS.

3) I was previously using OpenDNS on my PACE and it filtered out most objectionable websites to prevent my kids from accessing any dirty sites. Not a foolproof solution but my kids don't know how to change DNS on their phones or laptops, so good enuff for me.

4) Called ST and Myanmar support lady answered. She's not too knowledgeable and tried to help me change my PC DNS settings instead :s13: . Then asked me to call Aztech support.
5) Called Aztech and Pinoy support guy told me firmware was configured by ST and they can't help.
6) Called Singtel again and got a local support guy - phew! Friendly and at least knows what he was talking about. Checked with his tech guys and informed me no way to change DNS on FG7003GRV. Suggested to me to subscribe to Family safe plan instead - why should I when OpenDNS was free.
7) Tried to telnet to FG7003GRV and tried deleting WAN interface using

"wan delete interface eth eth0.1" but got unspecified error

goo.gl/vdhkt0

Any one knows how I can circumvent this? Really frustrating as the PACE router allowed me to change the DNS settings

Thanks
:)

Hi Henry, thanks for the suggestion, but installing LAN cable is not an option for me due to architectural/trunking probs...etc

Any other suggestions? :)

Hi torxxx, I got the ASUS USB-AC56 Dual Band Wireless Adaptor. Is this model ****ing good enuff? haha.

I am only getting average ~ 9-20 Mbps download speed (Ping 7ms; Upload speed 1.74 Mpbs)

What can I do to increase my download speeds? - Get a wireless repeater or better router like u suggested?
Which would be better? Thanks! :)
