Hi,

I'm currently using Starhub Fiber 100mbps and the wireless router given died on me.

Could I get a recommendation for one at a budget of 70-110.

Usage is for streaming and downloading.
Do let me know of you need more information.

Thanks!

you can try mikrotik rb750GL (no wireless) or RB951G, both within your budget, if you purchase from us, remember to ask for preconfigured for you

Like to hijack this thread, sorry TS!

I am also using the Starhub standard issue router, and I place it near my main door. The range is quite restricted as I move away into the kitchen area and into my bedrooms, probably due to the walls and doors.

Is there any recommendation for something with a better range? I am ok with anything below $200...TIA!

the slightly more expensive and labourous way is to lay a cat 6 cable to the somewhere middle of your house. the cheaper way is buy homeplug or a wireless repeater :)

I'm looking for one too, a router and a wireless USB adapter for a budget of below 300.

Got a few walls to penetrate through, so investing in a better router

Imho, those superset extensions to 802.11ac's Beamforming seem to work well. In particular, I've found Netgear's Beamforming+ to improve coverage strength. I wrote a review on the Netgear R6300v2: Netgear R6300 Wireless Router Review | Zit Seng's Blog

For my case, there are 2 range.
2.4ghz and 5ghz. 2.4ghz should be able to cover wider range.

Also hijack this thread

For routers not given by Singtel/Starhub/M1, is it easy to setup such that it's auto configure from the fiber box?

For mine setup is one fiber box and one wireless router from singtel but the router wireless performance not very good at certain locations in house, especially in bedroom where the router is in living room. The startup time also very slow. So now I'm reviewing whether routers from Asus such that N56U would improve the situation.

Can someone shed some light into this thanks!:)

3rd party routers will never be autpmatically configured like what you having now from singtel.

I would say most 3rd party routers are having an intuitive web UI for you to set up. If you have miotv, then the set up will be a little different..

Ok with first point, I think shouldn't be too difficult. But mind giving more info on second point? :s11:

This is the big problem, those with voice and mio tv must configure it make it work.

Until now I think only asus got pre configured routers that's plug and play.
