Maybe try holding power and volume button down to see can wake up the phone.

Think this is a bug from iOS 9. Me also experienced the same thing for my iPhone 6 and ipad as well. Some forum claim the hot feeling of their device and their home button as well.

Hi guys,

I read a lot for this problem. This happens before in Iphone 5, 5s and 6 era.

No harm doing this:-

Fully charge your iPhone and fully drain it to 0-5% and charge it back to full. (Battery Cycling)

I am on 9.0.2 Space Grey 6s+ 128GB.

Had this problem once on 9.0.1 and once on 9.0.2, after battery cycling thru, now going into 4 day without random shutdown problem. Keeping my finger crossed.

Mine, home button was not hot when the shutdown happened.

Same problem on my iPod touch 6G, had more than 70% battery and left it untouched during lessons. When I went to find it it was shut down and took me a couple tries to get it to boot up :X
