Recommendation for Taxi Driver in Jeju (Mr Ann Sung Oup)

Hi all,

I highly recommend Mr Ann as your driver as he provided awesome services.

We provided him the places we wanted to go and he did manage to bring us to most of the places that we wanted to go (9 Hours wasn't enough to cover all those we want to go or it wasn't in the season yet)

He planned the itenary on how best to cover all those places we wanted to go and provide services like taking photos for us the entire trip! (Good photography skills as well!) When we went for our lunch for black pork BBQ, he even assist to cook for us and taught us how to eat it korean style! He was a fatherly figure and fed us those food!!

He brought us to some of the places that was on the way and dropped us there so we could take pictures and it was beautiful.

He is a very high energetic and enthusiastic guy with a sense of humor! He even bargained with the tangerine seller for us so we get to taste the famous fruit!

His car is very comfortable and very well maintained. We slept most of the time when we are travelling to the various places.

Very Disappointed service with Mr Ann Sung Oup. I Do not recommend anyone to use his service.

Hey Bro,

I'm currently in Seoul.
Few days ago, we uses Mr Ann Sung Oup as our tour in Jeju.
Overall, I can only say I am very disappointed with his services as he speak only very limited english and seriously, I doubt if he can understand simple English.

Prior to the trip
Despite sending him our itinerary and request him to see if the arrangement is alright, I did not received any replied from him. As the date is approaching, I contacted him via Whatsapp and asked him to checked and he didn't reply too (1st sign of trouble)

First Day of Tour
He came very unprepared (without a copy of our itinerary) and does not even know where our first destination is.
As our flight is delayed prior to the night before, we told Mr. Ann that we decided not to check-in to hotel first and we prefer to head out to the first destination.
To our horror, 10 mins later, we arrived at the door step of our hotel !!!! (At the point of time, we started to doubt if he understand English)
After we visited several destination and on the way to the next destination, i noticed that he seems to be heading on the way back to town (I was checking GPS at that time) hence we asked him that according to the itinerary, shouldn't we should be heading to Suwolbong Peak?
He told us "No Time", we shall do tomorrow"
We ended up 45mins earlier in hotel (Total Tour Time : 8hrs 15mins)

Second Day of tour

On our 2nd day of the trip, he asked us if we already eaten breakfast and I told him "Yes, we had Abalone Porridge" and I shown him the photo of the abalone porridge we took.
He told us "Oh yes, abalone porridge", then he start to driving.
Around 30mins later, he turned into a small lane and stop infront of the abalone porridge shop.
I told him "Why are we here? Shouldn't we go to the 1st destination?"
He told me that because I wanted to eat abalone porridge!!!!
He wasted around 45mins in total due to the misunderstanding (which is in simple English)

At the end of the 2nd Day, he took us to watch the sunset at Suwolbong Peak (which he promised us yesterday)
Using GPS, I noticed that he took a much longer route and uses the small roads instead of expressway which is likely to significantly reduces the time from Point A to Point B (which I figured out at the end of the trip that he might had done it on purposed so that he can charged us for overtime)

Ended at 8pm, which is 2 hours later than agreed

Third Day of the Trip
Never before in any trip, I feel so happy that it is finally coming to an end.
As per usual, he picked us up from Hotel and fetched us to our first Destination, Mini Mini Land.
It was raining heavily with strong wind which makes Mini Mini Land not suitable for the day as it is an outdoor place however, Mr. Ann insisted that we should go ahead using umbrella.
It was until when we told him that "Hey, u expect us to go in and take photos using umbrella?" then he said ok, we go next destination.
The rest of the tour were just simple taxi services which just dropping us at the designated places without introduction the location and the history of it.

Ended at 4.30pm, 30mins before agreed time

End of the tour (PAYMENT TIME!!!)
At the end of the 3 days service, he charged me 30,000 Won for the addition 2 hours of services on 2nd day of tour.

In his email, he stated per additional hour is 10,000 won but he is overcharging me by 5,000won per hour (Dishonesty).
Initially he insisted that the rate is correct till I showed him the email which he send to me previously which is 10,000 won/hr.
(Of cos some might argued that additional 10,000won is small money, which i agreed too but then, this is outraged cheating)

I've used private tour guide for several places such as Bali, Surabaya, Haiko and etc and I can say that this tour guide is very unprofessional (did I mentioned that I actually send my schedule to him more than 2 weeks in advance and there is not reply from him at all)

After all the negative on the above, there is something positive and so-called additional service by Mr Ann Sung Oup.

1) Teaching us how to eat black pork
2) Brought ice-cream and drink for us when we are at the Tea Museum
3) Took photo for us

Anyway, if anyone of you die die cannot find other tour guide in Jeju and wish to feel disappointed, feel free to contact Mr. Ann Sung Oup, please refer to the details below (All the best to you and hope that you will not have the same experience as me)

Given his English level, i doubt this was written by him.
Actually i uses his service as the few popular ones already taken up.
And also the review on Trip Advisor seems to be good.
Haiz, treat it as a lesson learn. Should stick with those popular ones.
Just hope that others will see my review and avoid falling into this again.
Will be posting on Trip Advisor too when I'm back in Singapore.
