Hi all, please recommend me an air fryer.

So far I have come across models from Kuche, Kronen, Europace and Mayer on Qoo10.

Mayer seems popular, but they all have confusing model numbers and no clear details on the differences, e.g - F2, F3, F8, F88, F50, F10, F12. Official website have even less detail than on Qoo10.

Need something a bit compact as kitchen space is limited. Already have a Tefal convection oven so this one will be mainly for frying purpose.

Need something that will maybe not leak too much heat, as want to avoid energy waste.

Europace. Cheap & Good. If I'm not wrong is less than $100. Plus has bigger capacity inside (Open from top, not drawer). Been using it for 1 year ++ already on a frequent basis.

Model name is: EAO 133P 5-in-1 Air Fryer Oven

Philips Airfryer is good!

Is the high premium for Philips justifiable?

I can see this available for $129 on Qoo10. One customer review says that the coil is dirty, have to clean with wipe cloth. Is this a design problem?

Using Philips Airfryer too. Other than the wire mesh basket being tedious to clean, I'm quite happy with it.

I wonder if there is a higher percentage of Philips owner here because foodies tend to be early adopters of food tech, and at the beginning there's only Tefal (much more expensive) and Philips.

Hi, I have a few questions. Appreciate it if you can help to answer.

Are there any advantages of the open from top design over the drawer design? Seems to me that drawer design would make it easier to access the food for stirring or shaking. That is, one step to slide out the drawer vs Two steps to open cover and lift drawer from the fryer. Can you comment?

Also does the tray inside rotate while cooking?

When opening the oven while cooking is the heating element exposed towards you? Seems like the drawer design is safer because the heating element is kept inside and concealed.

In my opinion, I prefer open the top because it has larger capacity, can put more food at once compared to the drawer..

Lift the top, it has a catch to prevent it from closing. Then lift the basket and shake as you want. Two steps > One step isn't much different is there lol. The much larger capacity compared to Philips airfryer FAR outweighs this 'disadvantage' to me.

No the tray does not rotate inside but i've had no issues with it. Stuff cooks pretty evenly.

Yes but i've never touched it or been burnt by it. It is highly unlikely it will ever touch you unless you do it on purpose. When you lift up the top, theres a catch that prevents it from closing.

Also, your comment about the coil being dirty, philips is the same. But i guarantee that philips is alot harder to clean because of the way the coil is placed. People have to use a small brush just to get to it. Most people are ignorant about the coil getting dirty because since its underneath, you cant see all the grease building up beneath it. In europace case, you can see it, since heating coil is at the top. Thats why people comment about it. Ultimately it is up to you which you prefer. I chose europace because of its larger capacity and much cheaper price.

If cleaning is an issue, greasiness and all, I've actually been using a multipurpose cleaning product to combat this issue lol infact i use it for cleaning stove tops etc. Makes grease/food stuck on the airfryer basket alot easier to scrub off.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Very helpful and much appreciated.

I only have one last concern. It seems the wattage is 1300W only. It could be a little underpowered - maybe take more time to reach operating temperature. Can you comment on your cooking/frying times?

Raw chicken breast cooks within 10minutes. French fries etc i'm not sure. I usually just check every 5 minutes or so. But shouldn't exceed 15~20minutes. You can set highest temperature 200 celsius. It doesnt take long to reach that temperature. Probably under 5mins?

I using europace. when u open the drawer while cooking, the heating will auto stop. the heating element is inside. what you get when u open the drawer is just a heated pan. thats all.

There are so many brands nowadays each with their own fanciful frying technology names. To me Philips is perhaps not worth the price with so many well known brands going below $100. Can go for brands like Europace, Mayer, Grunn etc. The reviews of these brands are good.

Take note that in Mayer airfryers, there are metal screws on the inside of the gasket as well as the main body. Make sure you wash and dry after washing or these screws will rust and taint your food.

I've already thrown away 1 Mayer airfryer because of this issue. Even the frying gasket itself can rust.
