Hi wine experts. Am sourcing for suitable table wine (red/white/sparkling) for a wedding around $20/bottle so not sure if that's possible. Probably need around 30 bottles so I think for a dinner it'll be safe to get 20 red and 10 white based on the 70:30 ratio?

Any recommendations on who can I check out? I read that there are some consignment stores around where you can return unconsumed wine.

usually for wedding wine, red wine is served only to keep it simple. Your volume is too low, doubt you can get consignment. Safe range will be 1.5-1.75 bottle per table

Hi Arcanell. I also agree serving red only along with the other drinks like beer could be an option to keep it simple.

Not sure if anybody has heard/tried wine from In Vino Veritas since I saw my friend mentioning previously for his own wedding.

Your hotel got any vendor contacts for wine? Or else can just go supermarket and buy wines that are on sale (only issue probably is to find a place to store them)

Appreciate all your comments. Will try contacting a few places to see if some of the wine can fit the budget.

The more one drinks, the more inclined towards buying the next bottle.

unfortunately no. i did a quick search else where also no have. You can use a vinturi first and then let it pour into a regular decanter. the menu seems like a combination of both.

maybe it's cos i'm a bit traditional i usually either let it breathe in the bottle (slow oxidation or double decant) or put it in the regular decanter.

you can read about the benefits of the slow ox method (if u have time); otherwise known as the Audoze Method; which seem to be beneficial for more older mature wines.

there is no cheap coravin. plus the argon canisters are expensive in the long run. like i said coravin is more for when u want to taste your expensive wines in advance but can still leave it to age.

so you bought a young bordeaux that can age 15-20 years or more. but by year 5 you want to taste it to see it's evolution. a Coravin will be great at that as it can pour out a serving or half a serving of wine to try.

Unless you are loaded with $$ a Coravin is not intended to use as a wine saver, where you buy a regular bottle and just use it to pour one or two servings every night. it's not economical in the long run and just doesn't make sense.

your 3 options:

1) Buy a VacuVin air pump wine saver: just search online it's there
2) The cheaper option will be to get more kaki's to drink
3) Actually most of us just recork/screwcap it back and stick it in the fridge. A good wine will usually last and continue to evolve and hold over the next 24-48 hours no problem.

save money and just go for option 2 or 3; honestly. i've been buying and drinking wines regularly for the past decade and i've never bought any of these gadgets.

Prices is quite controlled, so don't think u would be able to find a cheap coravin. Try Fine Wines SG or Lazada..

Honestly, might be cheaper to get a wine buddy to drink with you..

Yes I agree sharing wines is much better plus you can "tok cork" also...hehe..

The average cost of pouring a glass of 100ml is around $3-4 for the coravin

Bro I teach u.....wait for ntuc to have buy 1 get 1 free for $26-28. So your cost pr bottle only $13-14. Get their wine club card and save 8%. Buy online as they will give free delivery since you buy lot.

However the taste of these wines are very simple..
.dont have too high expectations hor...

Vintage is one thing but it's still best to buy from reliable producers.
