Anyone using this laptop currently? It seems to be the refreshed version of the vostro 5460 so battery life should be improved?

Malaysia

Singapore

for the similar price what you can get in Malaysia is as follows:

SGP vs Msia
i3 vs i5
Intel® HD Graphics 4400 vs NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 740M 2GB DDR3

the obvious difference.

Thanks for this info! I wasn't aware Dell had a new vostro. When did this come out?

I started looking at 5460 2 months back and didn't like the 1GB graphics card. Then started shopping around for other brands. Now this one seems like a good price (from malaysia). Anyone know if it's upgradable to 8GB?

Also, the weight is -1kg?!?

That's still pretty good at 1.5-1.7kg. I saw a post in lowyat someone said 1.5kg. I'll be in KL next month so probably will got lowyat plaza and look see. So far I see their pricelist none of the shops seem to carry it.

Edit: Found the dimensions and weight...

Thickness: 18.3mm
Weight: 1.53kg

I was just thinking of getting this laptop to do programming but was hoping the battery life should be better than 5460 as I saw others mention approx 4hrs on 5460.

ordered a few units for company, abit issues here and there.
actually when ordering, i would rather get the old model 5460 with the msata cache. but too late to order and they refreshed to 5470.

Kindly describe the issues? The portable weight and the dedicated graphics very tempting. How is the built quality and the aftersales service? Anyone can comment on it?

Just gotten mine.

I hv not used it for gaming so cant comment on that. Used it for a couples of hours of drama and some web surfing the heat is no where near warm.

Battery could last approx 5-7hrs. Maybe is due to a new set. Will see how after couple of weeks.

I got mine from malaysia because it helps me to save approx 900+ vs 1399.

Mine is the 1 with the touchscreen, 32gb msata, finger security and gt740m

Mind sharing where and how you got it from Msia? GST? Also how about warranty?

warranty in malaysia (that is the risk you gonna partake).

GST (7% from SG Customs)

Order Online and have it deliver to a friend's place. Alternatively, you can visit Danga Mall (DELL authorized dealer - only 1 unit is) to get them to do the ordering for you with a small deposit but that will mean you will have to revisit malaysia twice.
