i understand that after setting your st536v6 modem to bridge mode and connecting it to the internet port of the router and connecting your router to the computer using the lan cable, you have to set your router to PPPoE.

but how do i access the router web configuration at all?
when i do a ipconfig, the ip add of the modem is now 203.xx.xx.xx (if i remember correctly)

furthermore, i seem to have a problem when i used the setup cd for my wrt54g as the modem could not connect to the router.

i would appreciate if someone could correct me if i did anything wrong. thanks a bunch.

Ok...after few days of calling SNBB helpdesk .... finally got the solution to revert my ST536v6 modem back to bridge mode. You will need to call up Thos Solution Tel:67739693

Anyway, I post it here :-

To set the modem to a bridged mode, please ensure that your PC is connected directly to the SpeedTouch.

If you have previously set up the modem to connect to the internet, you will need to disconnect it using a web browser.

Go to http://192.168.1.254 and Under Broadband connection, click on

'Disconnect' button.

You can then close the browser. (The Internet LED should be off)

To perform a telnet to the modem, click on (Start, select "Run..." and type in: cmd[Enter]

(for Windows 98se or Windows Millennium, type: command [Enter] )

if the command is successful, you should see a black color DOS screen.

Type in the following

telnet 192.168.1.254[Enter]

When prompted for authentication, please provide the following information.

username: Administrator[Enter]
password: [Enter]

You should then see a prompt like the one below:

After setting ST536v6 to bridge mode:

1. Connect ST536v6>router WAN port>router LAN port to computer

2. Set PPPoE (Username and Password)

3. Surf the Internet

The ST536 can also be configured into half-bridge mode, thus able use the better PPPoA instead of PPPoE mode. However, latency will take some beatings as the ST536 performance for base latency is bad.

Anyone keen on trying?

Setup with wire; you can remove CAT5 when setting is completed (i.e. you can use wireless)

Use your own username and password to prevent access to your ST536v6.

You only input Singnet username and password in router.

Hi, I have a problem here :(

My setup

ST536v6 (6.1.0.5) ethernet --> (wan) Linksys WRT54G v7 (lan) --> (ethernet) PC

I have set up my ST536v6 into bridge mode according to Diavonex settings. (basic --> bridge)

Then I setup in my Linksys setup page my PPPoE username and password.
Then I went to the Linksys status page and found it is disconnected. I click on the CONNECT button.
After a while, it is connected and I get a public IP in the range of 220.xxx.xxx.xxx

When I am using my PC to go online, after about 20s, I get disconnected.
I went back to the Linksys status page and it gives an error "PPPoE LCP negotiation failed".
All the IP address become 0.0.0.0

I click on CONNECT button again, and I get Public IP again, then same symptom happens.

The 3rd time I do it, it tell me "Cannot get an IP from PPPoE server"

I don't know why is it like that when nobody else is facing this problem :(

1. Make sure your username and password is correct i.e. username@singnet

2. Disable WEP/WPA and try again

Note: Your computer IP should be 192.168.1.XXX

If you still have problem, try static IP:

Hi Diavonex, thanks for helping.

1) Username and password is correct. Did a Basic --> Routed PPP and it is able to work.

2) I am using wired LAN connected to Linksys and to ST536.

3) I have hard reset the router, and redo the basic --> bridge and it is same symptom of disconnecting after 20s.

4) Currently, using Routed PPP, which plug into the Linksys router (LAN), and setting Linksys as Automatic DHCP.

My ST536 is from Singtel and having firmware version 6.1.0.5. Do you think it is a problematic version?
