Try method 2

1. Connect ST536v6 to router's WAN port

2. Connect computer to router's LAN port

3. Set PPPoE (username and password) on router

4. Hard reset the ST536v6 for 10 to 12 seconds (use paper clip to poke hole behind ST536v6)

5. Surf the internet

Note: I you still can't connect, hard reset the ST536v6 a few more times.

Hi Diavonex

Some discussion back you mentioned that double-routing not a good method of connection. I have done this before and it worked well.

One more point, why do you propose for router to perform DHCP instead of the ST536? In another method that I have done, I switched off the DHCP in my Linksys router, connect the ST536 to a LAN port of the Linksys and have ST536 do the routing and dialing. Isn't this easier than to convert ST536 to bridge mode?

Please advise.

There is no right or wrong as to which method you choose actually.

in what circumstances we need to set bridge mode? Only st536v6?
OR
Any ADSL Modem Only + A Wireless Broadband Router?

Eg. does the below need to set bridge mode or just can use straight away if the two devices are link together?

speedtouch modem + wrt54g
2wiremodem/mio + wrt54g

?

All the 3 examples above, u nid to bridge it. If not, working in double routing mode is also possible.
Half-bridge mode oso possible if the modem supports it.

thanks for replying, it seems kinda a troublesome to set in bridge mode, also, this thread is dedicated to this specfic model and the tutorial seems quite complex.

May I know how do I set bridge mode for modem like 2wire in bridge mode?

What you mean by double routing, does it need configuration also?

Pleeted, if you have the time, try this out...

Let the 2wire continue to perform the dialing and routing function (DHCP enabled) and turn your WRT54G into a switch (turn off DHCP). Connect 2wire (Ethernet out) to one of the LAN ports (not the Internet port) behind the WRT54G.

This method, don't need to flash anything.

I have tried downloading the .iso file, but my username/password are not being accepted. :s22: I have been trying to get this set up for a few days now, and am getting quite frustrated. I am not very computer savvy to begin with, so please help me???

Help Please.

Diavonex, I've tried your residential cd to bridge my ST536 (6.2.17.5), but still doesn't make it to work with my linksys WRT54G router, still not having internet connection. Pls do send me Screenshots to guide me. My email: dfmarcelino@yahoo.com I'll post my feedback afterwards. Thank you.

Pleeted, should proceed with speedtouch as prescribed. Do report back and share.

zizourox, do follow what I have prescribed in #371. Don't need to set to bridge mode but simply input your dial settings in 5100. Next, turn off DHCP in wrt54g. Connect LAN cable from 5100 to one of the LAN ports in wrt54g (not the Internet port). Try this out and report back.

Wrong thread.
But yes.

Poke the unit to bridge it, like some of the ST536

SS4100/5100 got a serious bug. Bridge it better.

zizourox, try 192.168.0.1 for the configuration menu and google around for bridge mode configurations.

Setting it is not inside the modem web ui. See my 2nd post back on how to bridge it.

This is the most direct method, that worked for me since day 1.:)
but i dont have to hard reset that much - at most twice.
