thanks for your reply goenitz33! yes a friend of mine had the same issue connecting to dlink router from another vaio model but i thought this would have been fixed since its been 2 years ago.

first i was going to upgrade to macbook pro 15" then saw this z model for the same price range and windows 7 i thought... it might be a good time to go back to windows!

Stupidest thing is that my SZ75 connects flawlessly with my DSL2640T only my Z36 got problem -.-

LOL

if this goes on i will just use back my lan cable instead =X

I'm interested in getting a Z56 GG from Hongkong, which i happened to browse various countries sony style website and this is best offer i could find.

But the problem is how am i able to import it into singapore knowing there's vpost and myus, which both doesn't ship items from hongkong.

Pls advice.

hi all, I notice this being asked in another Sony VAIO forum here but so far, no answer yet? I have flickering screen too when the brightness is maxed and the site is livescore.com. Has this problem been resolved?

Also, I realise that my lappie's screen calibrates whenever it starts up windows , just at the time after i key in my password for the account. Even after i remove the password, the screen still calibrates, like instant black...then shows up again.... urgh...is there anyone out here who is experiencing the same thing? Thanks. :)

the flickering screen? you mean like //// when scrolling down? i think that is actually due to the way the LCD is being coated. can't be resolved. personally i did not / cannot perceive the problem since my eyes are sensitive to light and i always dim the display down to 0 to 20% brightness for comfort.

the other thing you said is the screen will turn black, that should be windows trying to check whether there are other monitor screen being attached... if you disable that option, it should go away.

try whether this work?

i manage to find some time early this week to do a full recovery back to vista 64 (including restoring the hidden recovery partition) and upgrade it to windows 7 using the upgrade kit but with my own windows 7 installation disc. although no issues were found during the upgrade (other than the speed more brightness does not work, but easily fix with the latests driver from sony website). i somehow found that it is so much slower than my previous windows 7 installation.

Before this upgrade, i used to have a clean install version and i recall that it is much faster than this ... (Another reason is that after installing k-lite codec pack, my mp3 thumbnails are not showing, so, i remove k-lite and install sharks codec but that doesnt work either .. so kind of piss, going to format my poor 46 again)

so, i am thinking of doing the following tonight ..
1) Clean install windows 7 ultimate x64
2) load the recovery disc (the sony original x64 vista recovery disc)
3) install the drivers and a couple pre-install apps
4) run the sony windows 7 supplement disc to upgrade the drivers and apps

for steps 2-4, i was wondering if there are anyone whom have done the same thing?

o_O???

becos i lazy to install the driver one by one mah ...
initially i thought can use the recovery discs to install the sony apps and drivers, then use the upgrade kit supplement disc to upgrade the drivers, but end up cannot ..

so, i got to use the old sch method, install the driver one by one.

Z16 user here.

Running windows 7. Did a ram upgrade to 4GB previously. Am finding performance rather sluggish at times.

ie. when I minimise and restore a full sized window successively, the display will be quite jerky. But after like 4 times, its back. At times I don't get it at all. Wonder if its the stock 5400rpm disk at fault?

Any Z16 users here sharing the same issue?
