(1) 2410 is using H-IPS while 2412 is using e-IPS.
(2) 2401 is wide-color gamut (supports aRGB and sRGB) while 2412 only supports standard color (i.e. sRGB, right?)
(3) 2410 is 8-bit while 2412 is 6-bit.

no HDMI and component input, guess they remove internal scaler, that should save some cost; also no removable media port.

sRGB is good actually, save the hassle of tweaking wide color to standard color space used by web and photography. sometime, keeping thing simple is good.

as for the 6 bit panel, wheres the source? the U2311H is claimed by some to be 6 bit but on my eyes, it doesn't shown any color banding or cartoonish like the useless TN.

Dell should have some promotion soon, as they always do. by year end, the price would probably drop to below $400. hopefully consumer would look pass the pretty casing and overrated LED and get something that's actually good on the PQ--assuming the PQ is on par or better than U2311H.

Power consumption is much lower than U2410.

Any reviews yet for this very new model?

4) 2410 is CCFL backlit, 2412 is LED backlit. Hence the reduced power consumption and perhaps a slightly smaller footprint.

Is it a 8 bit panel, from LG's LM240WU8-SLA2 pdf?

LM240WU8 is a Color Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display with an integral Light Emitting Diode (LED)
backlight system. The matrix employs a-Si Thin Film Transistor as the active element. It is a transmissive type
display operating in the normally white mode. It has a 24 inch diagonally measured active display area with
WUXGA resolution (1200 vertical by 1920 horizontal pixel array). Each pixel is divided into Red, Green and
Blue sub-pixels or dots which are arranged in vertical stripes. Gray scale or the brightness of the sub-pixel color
is determined with a 8-bit gray scale signal for each dot, thus, presenting a palette of more than 16,7M colors
with Advanced-FRC(Frame Rate Control). It has been designed to apply the interface method that enables low
power, high speed, low EMI. FPD Link or compatible must be used as a LVDS(Low Voltage Differential
Signaling) chip. It is intended to support applications where thin thickness, wide viewing angle, low power are
critical factors and graphic displays are important. In combination with the vertical arrangement of the sub-
pixels, the LM240WU8’s characteristics provide an excellent flat panel display for office automation products
such as monitors.

But it state also:

Color depth 16.7M colors (6bit+A-FRC)

Its a good business decision. Probably less demand for wide gamut 24" monitor now that the U2711 is so much cheaper now.

If a pro was buying a monitor for professional use, the pro would go for U2711 not the U24xx.

If the U2412 has the same image quality as the U2311 it'll be fine for most users.

2412M is 8ms compared to 2410 which is 6ms. 2412M also supports less colors, and lower gamut from what I've read.
