Why would u lose?

You bought 2.33 x 5,000 = 11,650

You get 1,000 bonus shares, so now you have 6,000 shares.

Today price (opening): 1.915 x 6,000 = 11,670. More or less the same.
At 2.02 (price at 1145), you are probably a little better off.

Dumb question

Ezion's SGX filing on 31st Oct
"NOTICE OF BOOKS CLOSURE DATE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Share Transfer Books and the Register of Members will
be closed at 5.00 p.m. on 11 November 2013 (“Books Closure Date”) to determine
Shareholders’ entitlements to Bonus Shares under the Proposed Bonus Issue.

Duly completed transfers received by the Company’s Share Registrar, M&C Services Private
Limited, 112 Robinson Road #05-01, Singapore 008902 up to 5.00 p.m. on 11 November 2013
will be registered to determine Shareholders’ entitlements to Bonus Shares under the Bonus
Issue. Shareholders whose securities accounts with The Central Depository (Pte) Limited are
credited with Shares as at 5.00 p.m. on 11 November 2013 will be entitled to Bonus Shares
under the Proposed Bonus Issue.
"

Does this mean stock bought upto 11th will get bonus?

No. Once XB, there is no more bonus issues. If you want the bonus issues, you need to buy it during ** or before it **.

That sounds reasonable, but why the discrepancy between the 11th quoted in SGX filing and it going XB today 7th?

There is no discrepancy. 11th is the Book Closure Date. Which is different from the XB (ex-Bonus) date.

The ex-dates (XB, XD, XA etc) are 2 trading days before the Book Closure Date.

2 trading days before the 11th is today 07 Nov - XB date.

Hope that clears things up.

Nope. I think that's just to determine entitlement to the bonus issue

No mention by Ezion on when the bonus shares will be issued to your CDP account.

I vaguely remembers that for Bonus issues, they would credit it into your CDP 3 working days after XD. Let us see on 11 Nov 2013.

Why would companies do bonus issues arh? Increase liquidity of the shares?

There are two ways to see it.

1. Improves liquidity by increasing the shares and diluting the price of each share and make it more affordable
2. Reward shareholders

Not necessary.

Take the case of Maxi-Cash which issue a 1-for-10 bonus issue last month.

The record date was 18 Oct.

The issue date was a week later on 25 Oct. And the bonus shares were listed on 28 Oct.
