Chairman buys more of GP Batteries (G08-GP.SP)
Chairman & CEO Victor Lo Chung Wing picked up where he left off in battery manufacturer GP Batteries International Limited (G08-GP.SP) [MKT CAP 163M] in January with 352,000 shares purchased from February 23 to 27 at 94 to 98 cents each or an average of 96.8 cents each [AI SCORE 3.9]. The trades, which accounted for 52% of the stock's trading volume, increased his deemed holdings to 97.626 million shares or 59.24% of the issued capital. He also has direct interest of 300,000 shares or 0.18%. He previously acquired 1.29 million shares from January 2 to 27 at 80 cents to 92 cents each or an average of 83.2 cents each. Prior to his purchases this quarter, Mr. Lo acquired 4.94 million shares from September 29 to December 19, 2014 at an average of 79 cents each and 3.33 million shares from June to August 2014 at 58 cents to 80 cents each or an average of 71 cents each. The purchases since June 2014 are Mr. Lo's first on-market trades since his appointment in April 2014. Aside from his trades since June 2014, the Chairman acquired 3.09 million shares* from February to March 2014 at an estimated price of 58.4 cents each and 700,000 shares* in March 2010 at $1.39 to $1.69 each or an average of $1.49 each (as a substantial shareholder). GP Batteries announced on February 11 a 3Q profit after tax of $6.908 million for the 3 months to 31 December 2014 versus a loss of $24.153 million in the same quarter in 2013. Earnings in the first 9 months were $24.987 million versus a loss of $20.291 million in the same period in 2013. The counter was trading at 98 cents on March 3 (Asia Insider News Mar 3, 2015).

price rising with declining volume is a red flag. Volume should rise with price if BBs are involved, if it's the opposite most likely is BBs selling off slowly. Also, a steep rise is usually followed by a steep drop, just sayin

dont just dismiss a share just because low liquidity. illiquidity can be as much a friend and ally. because prices can move massively in your favor. Most investors attach high premium to liquidity more than its worth.

you must do proper FA to see if the company is indeed worth $1 per share. if the company is worth $10 per share, and now market is selling at $1, gan gan hoot liao! The risks are low and the returns are huge!


Dont be hard up over liquidity!!

low liquidity ok as long as the stock has fundamentals..turnaround co...illiquid stock easy to push..almost "cornered"..look at Hotel Goodwood I recalled in 1997 crash someone shorted at $31 one lot haha ,...buying died standing...no seller..that poor guy must be thinking at $31 will sure to drop drastically give the panic sentimentbuy or sell at own risk..this forum is just for sharing views only..

The Directors of GP Industries Limited (the “Company”) are pleased to announce
that the Company has today acquired 115,000 ordinary shares (the “Additional
GPB Shares”) in the capital of GP Batteries International Limited (“GP Batteries”)
by way of open market purchases on the Mainboard of the Singapore Exchange
Securities Trading Limited (the “SGX-ST”). The aggregate consideration, excluding
brokerage and stamp duty, payable by the Company for the Additional GPB Shares
and to be funded by the Company’s internal cash resources, is S$112,275.
Based on the weighted average price of S$0.9830 per ordinary share in the capital
of GP Batteries (a “GPB Share”) transacted on 17 March 2015, being the market
day preceding the date of acquisition of the Additional GPB Shares on which GPB
Shares were transacted on the SGX-ST, the market value of the Additional GPB
Shares is S$113,045.
