SINGAPORE, July 12 (Reuters) - KrisEnergy Ltd, backed by Keppel Corp Ltd and private equity firm First Reserve, said it would raise up to $203.6 million by listing its shares in Singapore, in a sign of improving investor sentiment for fund-raising in the city-state.

KrisEnergy's IPO comes just days after Overseas Union Enterprise Ltd and media group Singapore Press Ltd separately announced plans to list REITs.

KrisEnergy, an oil and gas explorer which focuses on Southeast Asia, is selling 151.99 million shares and an additional 94.16 million shares to cornerstone investors at S$1.10 per share. The company plans to raise gross proceeds of S$270.8 million, it said.

After the initial public offering, First Reserve will own a stake of 48.1 percent and Keppel Corp 31.4 percent of the company, the prospectus said.

KrisEnergy plans to use $85 million of the proceeds to bring six fields in Southeast Asia to post-production, and $30 million for working capital and leave the rest in reserves, Richard Lorentz, executive director of the company, told Reuters.

CLSA and Merrill Lynch are the joint bookrunners, OCBC and HSBC are the co-lead managers, and Pareto Securities is the co-manager of the issue.

Application for IPO starts from 9pm yesterday and ends on 17 July at 12pm. Company is doing oil and gas upstream exploration. For investors, this is a risky business as the oil and gas exploration may not yield any results but if it does, it can be lucrative.

Profit and cashflow has been dwindling in the last 3 years. Recently Keppel Corp bought a 20% stake in it. According to Mr. Choo, there are opportunities in this company. Share is priced at $1.10 each.

I wouldn't touch this. N. America is brimming with oil and gas. If they get their pipeline and LNG act together then prices for petroleum products will be depressed.

I don't believe that this will happen in the forseeable future. Perhaps 5-10 years down the road, given the skill and capital-intensiveness of such projects and the politics involved.

I'm not really sure about this, but I think LNG is opened by exploration and drilling too, it's a by-product when obtaining crude oil.

You're right in saying that it will take years before pipeline and LNG facilities make a appreciable impact on import markets in Asia. But, it is happening and I think it will be more in the timeframe of 2-4 years rather than 5-10.

And when I say LNG, I am talking liquefied natural gas. I know what you are talking about but I can't think of the proper term at the moment.

LNG can be made from any natural gas source. LNG is not a much a substitute for any source of gas (be it byproduct of oil drilling, frakking, generated from bio sources) as much as a downstream conversion that makes it easier to transport.

US, unlike in the past, is reducing reliance on O&G import. read up about shale gas - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shale_gas

new technology (as late as 2010) enable them to tap large reserve of shale gas in their own country.

other than shale gas, oil sands is another alternative source, which is abundance in Canada. It also gain popularity in recent years.

in addition, electric cars like Tesla will be the new trend, to replace environmental polluting petrol driven car in coming years.

No. of power plants, relying on LNG, or other fuels, will be built.

Oil will still be in demand, but for their other by-product, in the chemical industries such as synthetic rubber, lubricant, etc.

Now, I remember, it's NGLs or natural gas liquids. Different items.
