Hi I'm new to trading, just a quick question.

Is there and difference in terms of commission/fees, trading platform and settlement terms for Kim Eng vs the rest of the brokerage firms?

I have read up and find no differences between KE and iOCBC, CIMB, UOBKayhian. Also understand StandChart do not charge commission, DBS vickers is lowest with their cash-upfront feature.

But just in case I missed out something, hope you guys can advise.
I'll sign up with KE if there' nothing I've missed.

Thanks!

I rather go for one that parked my shares under CDP. At least if that broking house go broke like MF Global.. I know my shares still safe...

Interactive Brokers now allow SG shares trading

Hey Guys,

I just recently found out that Interactive Brokers now allow trading for SGX shares and wanted to share this fact with you guys. They previously did not have trade access to SGX shares.

Commissions from the website are at 0.12% of trade value with a minimum commission of SGD $3 which possibly makes it the cheapest broker for Spore shares around.

Do note that you will need to deposit $10k USD to open an account but after that you can take all the money out as there are no account minimums although you do need to have at least $2k equity minimum to make any trade.

As for the reputation and integrity of Interactive Brokers all i can say is that they are the biggest retail-type broker in the world and I have had no problems with them since I opened my account 3 years ago. As for whether they might do another MFGlobal lets just say that any bank/broker etc are capable of doing so and the only way to minimise damage is to never have too much parked with them. Just have enough to do your trades and take all profits out.

Cheers!

Hi, this is a very newbie question. Do you guys have an idea on how our investments are protected in case the broker goes bust? I have bought ETFs using Standard Chartered as my broker but since the bank also acts as a custodian, would that mean all my investments would disappear if they go bankrupt?

Hi Bros,

I've a question regarding POEMS online brokerage fee. In their website, it says $0-50k -> 0.28%, $50k-100k -> 0.22%, above $100k -> 0.18%, (Calculated On A Flat Scale).

My question is, for example, if my trade is $60k, will my brokerage fee be:

a. 0.28% for the first $50k + 0.22% for the next $10k, or

b. 0.22% for the whole $60k.

I'm asking this because it says "Calculated On A Flat Scale", which rightfully should be "b" above.

However, when I called to the POEMS customer service, I was told that it should be "a".

Any comments from brothers here with better knowledge and/or experience on this issue would be appreciated.

Hi guys,

Any CIMB account holders? I would like to ask how do I go about withdraw the cash from my brokerage account in CIMB? There seems to be no option to withdraw the cash amount online unlike Philips. Thank you.

SMS your broker and instruct him to withdraw
