i port forward for NAS bt and FTP liao but still no go hai.....
your nas bt listen at for example port 54321

your nas ftp listen at port 21

in your router side, you need to open port 54321 and point to the ip address of your nas port 54321 is bt is listening to that

similarly, for ftp, you need to open other port such as 62121 to ip address of your nas port 21 because isp blocks port 21.

check your router manual on how to do it. if it fails, call your router's technical helpdesk.

very straightforward.. if all else fails, rma your router or get someone else to check for you

Your wan ip address. The one given out by your ISP.

Since it's dhcp, you are better using ddns to point to your ip address on your router.

And... Refer to your router on how to set up ddns

hi all to those people having difficulties in configure FTP server. To be able to let FTP server work connect thru WAN IP.

first step: Go to ur NAS 320 -> FTP server Page. Make sure you check the "Allow SSL/TLS connection only". this is a must.

Second Step: if you are using a router behind firewall. make sure Forward the port. i assume you know how to port forward it.

third step: basic internet explorer do not support ftp-ssl/tls connection. download this free FTP client http://filezilla-project.org/
Should you use Site Manager, set the servertype to "FTPES: FTP over explicit TLS/SSL".
Enter those necessary information required.

i tested and it work. cheers

I using signet bb. no problem using port 21. I can access from wan ip.

Hi Bro

How much is the NAS 320 going for now???

I am looking to back up my data, and using NAS, I thought I could share some folders through NAS and set restriction for some...

Is NAS with Raid 1 with 2 HD safer bet than I do Raid 1 for 2 HD in a PC?? Doing in PC could be cheaper, but only issue would be unable to share the information....

Also, I saw WD Green have Sata3 vs Sata 6.... any tried and is there a big diff in speed???

is this new DNS-320 better than DNS-323?

can the OS runs, meaning able to run sshd, ftpd, httpd, etc, without installing harddisk?

would like to ask if this dns-320 allows swapping of hdd's without having issues? [i.e. power off then exchange another hdd with data]

think i saw something about previous dns323 seems to have some formating issues when new hdds are added.

The Sitex promo is over and its sold out currently. Bizgram is selling it currently for $189 (case) but u'll have to wait for new stocks to arrive. Meanwhile... there's ONE piece left at Chamoxa SLS.

IMO, it'll be better to set up RAID using the NAS rather than your PC. You can share your data and backup to the NAS as well. A better safe guard should something happen to your PC. Besides, u wouldnt want your PC running 24x7 would u?

The benefit of sharing data using NAS is one of the main reason why I like to consider this, as I have lost some data after my lap top crashed, and I did not back it up since my lap top was less than 8 mths old... an over sight on my part.....

Do you know if Sata 2 and Sata 3 HD speed have any difference??? Wonder if using a Sata 3 HD will be faster for OS if I not going SSD.....

I thinking still..... as I wanna upgrade my PC first....mmmm..... NAS.... not sure which to do first.... lol....

Not sure of the actual speed diff between SATA 2 and SATA 3, perhaps other members can chime in here?

NAS or not, backing up data is important. Having a NAS just makes backing up more convenient. I dont know what your priorities are at this moment. If data sharing is important, then i'd suggest u go for a NAS first and upgrade your PC later (since u already have a PC anyway!). If u need more performance and data sharing is not important, then by all means upgrade your PC first and u can consider adding the NAS at a later stage.

Currently, I save data on OS drive, a WD Black, and Seagate 7200.12 (refurbished) and a WD my passport HD.... At this moment, I think 3 should be enough... but Seagate is not so reliable, and I do not trust it much. and have much concern, and am counting on WD Black and WD passport to be my safe option.

As this is a Compaq mini tower, limited option to expand HD and beside, this PC model was a free from Starhub promotion, and read a lot of this model died in 2 yrs... mine is in the 3 yrs + I think... so worry it will expire too....

I would love a USB 3 ext HD as it would be much faster when syn data....

It actually depend on when my pc dies and the processor option.... I think I should go PC first..... while I learning more about NAS for now...
