Just got my hands on a Synology 413 + 3TB x WD REDS.

already set that up fully so now on my way to dump all my data from my physical disks into the NAS so I can use it centrally.

The idea was so I could get rid of those physical disks - didnt like them sitting in my PC for some reason.

How much did you bought it all bro? If you don't mind sharing.

cool. Still figuring out a couple of stuff though like the earlier question on SMB2 + Large MTU. been reading around and it seems OSes from Win7 / WS2008 onwards have SMB2 / 3 support but then it doesn't make sense for DSM4.x to not have that setting enabled. Perhaps that's also the reason why one of the guys here mentioned slow access speeds.

I'm also looking to enable the Antivirus package on it but not sure if it makes sense to do it to begin with.

any idea?

having problem with download station, tried to put 5 torrent overnight to test..
2 completed 100%, 3 of them around 60-80% completed but the status there is error then it stopped the download.
when i tried to resume it, it start to download again.. then after 1hrs error again and again..

anyone encounter this problem before?

If you could share with me the torrent file, I can try it off my NAS. Unless you have tried it on another NAS / PC and tested it is fine.

Just encountered the BBOD on my DS413... Set was working perfectly fine yesterday night.. Hopefully distro have immediate replacement set to do 1-1 exchange..

Blue blink of death.. Busted mainboard by the looks of it. Only 3 mths+ tops & I don't run 24/7 can still break down within such a short time span..

Going tml. Of all days it broke down on a Sunday!!!

Is hiberation important to you guys ? I noticed ever since i installed Plex media server, i could not get my NAS to hiberate. If i switch Plex off, it works.

Just curious what is your view on the benefits of hiberation ?

I have a question on UPS for my NAS:

Just purchased APC BK650AS from VideoPro, item has yet to arrive. Question is, do I need any form of data cable for the UPS to communicate with my DS213j? Or is it a matter of plug & play?
I saw on APC's website that they have those USB-to-RJ45 cable, would that be necessary for me?
