my battery drain is average which is normal for 3G connection. that's why my set is always in power save mode (3G will be auto cut off after screen off for >30mins). on average, i only use around 1 hr++ a day and it can last me 4-5days per single charge.

as for the fast boot thing, i can't see the difference. even when it is activated, my set still takes a while to boot. anyway, i rarely fully shutdown the tablet so the slow boot doesn't bother me. mostly just screen off.

are you using wifi? may be you try to manually switch off the wifi first, before letting your set go into sleep mode. because if the wifi is running in sleep mode, then it will be consistently polling for wireless connection. this put a toll on the battery greatly.

I tried the battery savings. It does help indeed!!! Thanks.

Btw my fast boot is really solid. It boots up in like only 12s or so. I can tell it is a boot as all programs will be gone. In sleep mode the programs are still around. You should try this.

I am on ICS. 3G drains my mediapad within 1-2 hours of surfing. Is your set also facing the same problem or it is just me? I have battery savings and switched off my 3G and wifi regularly. I can hardly last 3 quarter of a day with just light surfing. Frustrated. With the unique power plug, hard to even buy a portable battery to recharge on the road.

i tried the fast boot just now. with fast boot activated, it clocked around 50 - 55 secs. the timings were around there be it cold or warm boot.

when fast boot was disabled, it boots up marginally slower @ ~60secs.

but like i say, i hardly perform full shutdown on the HMP. so i'll just leave it as it is. :)

i don't know should it be called a problem. :D but basically, if you use the set like an mobile phone, it will not last you even half a day.

when i'm on the power save mode, with 1hr+ of careful usage (absolutely no gaming), it barely lasts me 4-5 days. that translates in to only ~5hrs of usage if you surf the web for 2 hrs, i would expect a 30 - 40% drop in the battery juice! (yes i know battery depletion is non-linear. it's just a guesstimation).

i hope, too, brothers here can help source for a USB to pin type of cable for charging this tablet. =:p

I have similar issue with battery. After inactivated battery savings it is better. Can last a day plus.

But if I really want to save battery I will then switch off.

My fast boot is just activate the option only. No special key press.

Btw i did notice one funny thing. When I boot ( no special key stroke to shut down or boot up) and with the fast boot option enabled, the boot up time 2 months ago is like quite long abt minute. It is only recent few weeks that the boot is so fast. Like 10s!!!

I suggest you try a few weeks and see. I am using the stock latest firmware or the B005 mod. Do not have the device with me now

my new pouches for HMP which i ordered from ebay arrived today. these are the 8" pouches which fit comfortably even with the hard back case attached to the unit.

- this is the 8" brown pouch ....

- it also comes in black. it's around usd10-11 for both pieces (inclusive of shipping) ....

initially i ordered the 7" but the HMP has to be forced in even without the back case. and that's only half of the story. because to remove the unit, you really need bull strength to pull it out from the pocket. anyway, i reassigned these 7" to my Nook Color and they fit perfectly.

- top: 8" (left) vs 7" (right)
- bottom: NC with 7" :)

last week, i found and ordered an usb charging cable for our HMP from ebay. it should arrive these few days.

i don't think it is right that i advertise for the ebay sellers. but if anyone is interested, just search for 'usb charging cable mediapad' in ebay. the cable is dirt cheap at only ~usd3.xx (inclusive of shipping). :s13:

@eatcarrotcake @fucini,

u can search "Black+Brown PU Leather Pouch for huawei mediapad" at ebay.com. i picked from the "Top-rated seller". the good thing about buying from them is that if you give them a 5* feedback and email them about it after that. they will rebate usd2 back to your credit card account! :s12: to avoid any misunderstanding, i will not provide any direct link to the seller's site.

before you guys take the plunge, i just wanna re-highlight the user experience of these 7" and 8" pouches.

7" + HMP = super-duper tight fit (not recommended)
8" + HMP = loose fit. the unit will slip out of the pocket if it is overturned.
8" + HMP w/hard back shield = comfy fit. the unit slips in to the pocket comfortably and the tablet will not slip out even when the pouch is upside down. that's because of the traction from the hard shield.
